About the adventure
Every year the Galactic Hegemony expands, bringing more and more of these rimward systems under their power. Every year we push just a little further out. There isn't much room left in the 'verse for people like us, the smugglers, the bounty hunters, the rebels. One day, the sky will be a little too crowded for reasonably honest folk to make a reasonably honest cred. But that ain't today. Welcome to the Procyon Sector. We've got crystal planets where everything is space-magic. We've got jungle planets where everything is hungry. We've got industrial planets where the air is trying to kill you. But the Hegemony hasn't tightened their fist here yet, and there's still work. Who knows, maybe the next job will set you up for the rest of your life. A Scoundrel can dream right? Get to work, scoundrel. Find a crew, find a job, and keep flying. This is an introductory one-shot to Scum and Villainy, a Forged in the Dark love-letter to Firefly, Cowboy Bebop, and Star Wars. With fun, punchy mechanics and tight narrativist gameplay, you'll cut to the action, plan in reverse, use teamwork, take Devil's Bargains, and get the job done with maybe a little Stress to spare.
How to prepare
Players will need a microphone to participate in voice chat. Accounts in both Discord (for voice) and Roll20 (for character sheets and dicerolls) will be required to play. Both of those are free services, but having existing accounts will keep things easy-breezy when we gather for game-time. A passing familiarity with Dungeon World or other Powered by the Apocalypse games is a bonus, but not entirely necessary. The mechanics are light and narrative and can be picked up in play.
What I provide
I'll be bringing custom maps, weird aliens, playsheets, funny voices, and a high-octane sci-fi adventure.
Scum and Villainy assumes a fairly mercenary outlook (there might be some casual crime) and setting replete with fantasy drugs, violence, and weird aliens. If you weren't made uncomfortable by Star Wars or Firefly, then there shouldn't be any problems. That being said, all sessions begin with a discussion about Lines and Veils and the X-card is always in play.

How will character creation work
Character creation will be handled at the table. Scum and Villainy characters and crews come together in a few minutes, and so we can create them together without a strain on our time limit.
