Out of the Abyss: Enter the Underdark [5E D&D]

About the adventure

This campaign is Out of the Abyss: Rage of Demons, but it has been expanded and improved to be more of a sandbox. This game is suited for the beginner and the veteran alike, though it is considered to be more of a challenge than most of the premade modules. The main storyline for Rage of Demons takes place in the vast subterranean world known as the Underdark. This dark landscape is a twisted labyrinth where fear reigns, and is home to horrific monsters that have never seen the light of day. It is here that the dark elf Gromph Baenre, Archmage of Menzoberranzan, performs a foul ritual meant to tap into the magical energy of Faerzress that suffuses the Underdark—and tears open portals to the demonic Abyss in the process. The creatures that step through those portals horrify even the archmage, and from that moment on, demonic insanity pervades the Underdark and threatens to shake the Forgotten Realms to its foundations. Adventurers must stop the madness before it consumes the Underdark and spreads to destroy the surface folk of Faerûn! My forte as a storyteller is folding in the player characters (PCs) into the narrative in a meaningful way, bringing NPCs to life that you will love and hate (and sometimes both), and making the world feel open and dynamic. This particular campaign has a vast potential for exploration that I want to tap into.

What I provide

I bring to the board a Fantasy Ground Unity Ultimate License as well as many licensed products for 5E D&D (including Out of the Abyss: Rage of Demons). Further, I have added a lot of content to the setting to allow for more exploration, I have a wealth of knowledge and familiarity of TTRPGs as a DM so that you have a solid and positive experience in gameplay. I am an author that brings to the table a rich world in which to explore and I am a teacher that uses those skills to help players understand how the game is played.

Gameplay details

This campaign involves a balance of planning, fighting, exploring, and socializing though this varies greatly based on player choice. There is a ton of freedom although that can be daunting and choices have consequences. This game contains the themes of war, danger, and evil not appropriate for the faint of heart. This is an intense storyline that grapples with darkness, closed spaces, and spiders. Lots of spiders. A theme of madness is prevalent as well. In addition, since it is a sandbox (or a series of smaller sandboxes) and we may not know what we come across ahead of time I use the safety tools TTRPG Safety Toolkit Extension by mattekure which allows for X-cards. I am also very approachable with any concerns that you may have.

How will character creation work

Characters will be created during Session 0. This will allow for their personal narrative to be folded into the overarching story. Characters will be made according to the standard rules, but with access to Unearthed Arcana and Xanathar's Guide to Everything. If you have something a little more wild planned message me and we will see what we can do.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
