About the adventure
For 500 years, Cressidium has been isolated from the wider galaxy. Turned from a fledgling colony into a refuge for those fleeing from the fall of the tyrannical Second Committee, the people of Cressidium have struggled and fought to build a home for themselves while casting off the shadow of SecComm’s dominion. Now, centuries later, an encounter with a Union Third Committee exploratory mission has ignited an interest in rejoining the galactic community - but for everyone on Cressidium who sees the new Union as potential allies, another imagines them usurpers of humanity’s rightful legacy among the stars. Now, the arrival of a Union diplomatic delegation may be the spark that causes simmering tensions between nations to erupt into all-out war. You are LANCERS - elite mecha-jockeys for Union, fighting tyrants and warlords across the human diaspora. And you're on assignment to the UNS Rio Grande, as part of the honor guard for the diplomatic envoy to the planet Cressidium. It could be that the negotiations go off without a hitch; but just in case, your Everest frames are ready for combat drop and battle... An introductory minicampaign for Lancer.

How to prepare
I will provide links to my Discord and the Roll20 page we'll use for maneuvers, and to the main site we'll use for gameplay, Comp/Con. Don't bother making character sheets in Roll20, I'll walk you through doing it in Comp/Con and making major decisions there. A mic and desktop computer is recommended for compatibility with Discord, Comp/Con, and Roll20.
What I provide
I will bring the rules, including the Long Rim and Karrakin Baronies books, and have an account on Retrograde Miniatures which I'll use to make custom sprites of your character's mecha. I also have a discord channel for my StartPlaying.games clients.
Gameplay details
Operation Solstice Rain puts the player characters in the middle of a chaotic, bloody urban battle, including moments of sudden death as well as scenes involving dispossessed, injured, and traumatized survivors. Every effort has been taken to represent these matters as respectfully as possible, but I will still discuss things with my players to ensure that all participants are comfortable during play. If our group decides that adjusting certain scenes will make for a more enjoyable campaign experience, we will.

How will character creation work
We will be making LL0 (beginning) characters employed by Union during session 0. Please work with each other and the GM to make a squadron of characters who would be amenable to working with each other.
