About the adventure

It's the birthday of young Lord Alexi Daley (he/they) who insists upon a lively town party to celebrate them. The entirety of the Atrium hotel has been rented out and decorated in only the finest and the best performers around the area have been recruited to showcase their talents. With a cocktail hour, dinner, and performances on the docket, the night promises to be filled with fun and intrigue. What could go wrong? A D&D 5e one shot adventure for level 9-11 bards (or any character with a penchant for performance) Cover photo by Mark Angelo from Pexels

How to prepare

I recommend a webcam and mic, creating your character and having access to their character sheet, and having either a set of Dungeons and Dragons dice (d20, d12, d10, d8, d6, d4) or access to an online dice roller. Additionally, please come up with 5 rumors about your character! Two good, two bad, and one false to be shared in secret around the digital table.

What I provide

I typically use a communal google spreadsheet for maps and will have a link for people to access that along with images of NPCs, sometimes silly voices, and a suggested playlist (of modern music) for anyone who likes to have a little silly scoring to their games.

Gameplay details

This adventure has the potential for several different combat encounters depending on how the party chooses to interact with folks at the event. Prior to the event, the game will begin by role play scenes of getting invited to the event and any preparation your character may do or dates they may bring. Minor Spoiler: You'll find that there are "villains" in this one shot ranging from petty thieves to full blown soul stealers. Before the session, I typically ask you to provide me with a few rumors about your character - two good, two bad, and one false - to share with other players at the table to increase role play ability. Best served by a party of at least 4-6 level 10 characters.

How will character creation work

Level 9-11 Dungeons and Dragons 5e characters (typically bards, though any character with a reason to get invited to a lavish party is welcome!) It'd be best to bring the character ready to the game, but feel free to book some time with me if you need assistance in character creation!

Players can expect

  • Roleplay: High
  • Puzzles: Low
