About the adventure
The year is 1720, and for pirates its all falling apart. The War of Spanish Succession was a good, legal gig for a violent seafarer while it lasted, and left no shortage of marines looking for any work they could find, but the navies of the world are closing in at last. Blackbeard's head was hung from a mast just two years ago. No one wants to retire poor, however, and that's why so many of you have set out for the pirate round. The richest laden ships in history are going from India to Europe and back again, and Madagascar still has a few pirate havens in operation. Set sail, make your score, and retire in luxury! That was the plan, before you scored a strange new drug in a raid against an Honorable East India Company ship. A drug that transforms men into gods, and gives them the powers to match. Now everything is up for grabs, a new golden age of piracy may be just on the horizon, but that's thinking small. When you can command lightning, fly, and tear through hulls with your bare hands, so many possibilities open up. Which will you take, and what will you do to the world?

How to prepare
Players will need mics, but not wbcams. The best thing you can do to prepare is to do some research on the time period and get some ideas about what kind of character you'd like to play, and what powers you'd like them to have.
What I provide
I will have the Wild Talents and Reign rule books, as well as my house rules. I'll have a dice roller on Discord that we can use, which automatically finds matches for the ORE system.
Gameplay details
The game is about super powered pirates. More than that, it's about managing a successful pirate venture, and acquiring the mysterious drug that is the source of the strange superpowers. A typical session involves social interaction and strategizing punctuated by brutal and spectacular action scenes, from ship combat to superpowered brawls to old fashioned duels. The emphasis is on how your actions and plans change the fortunes not only of yourselves and your crew, but the world around you. The game will be using Wild Talents rules for characters, but will incorporate Reigns rules for managing a large scale company. The two games both run on the One Roll Engine, so they mesh almost seamlessly. The game is very much a sandbox, however, and if the group favors a particular part of the play style that part can easily be emphasized and brought to the fore. We'll be using the X card, as it's probably the most straightforward and handy safety tool. I encourage players to come to me before the first session with anything they definitely don't want in game, so we can nip the bud. How will character creation work
Character creation will take place at session 0. We'll be using Wild Talents, but all characters will have the same Archetype (the Somatic), unique to the setting. Somatics use the mysterious mystic drug Soma to physically transform into godlike entities, wielding incredible superpowers so long as the drug lasts, and losing it all when it wears off. Wild Talents character creation can be daunting, particularly in making Powers, but I've got a lot of experience in helping people grasp it. The upshot of all that complexity is you can have exactly the sort of superpowers and abilities you want.
