About the adventure

The Children of Andalore have long been a fixture in the City of Kalumnoir. Millennia ago, Kalumnoir was ruled by a single sovereign; the most notable of these was Lotharia Andalore, Queen of All Realms. Most of what we know about Lotharia and House Andalore has disappeared into history, and what we do know is likely a combination of fact and myth. After the Fall of Queens at the end of the First Age, the Powers that controlled the city did everything they could to tell the story of the Queens in a new light. They taught that the Queens, were terribly corrupt, and continually used their power only for self-advancement and never for the good of the city. It's believed that the First Age was a time of great lawlessness, where folk could carry weapons in the open, and leaving your home to go to the store was fraught with danger. Whether this is true or not depends, of course, on who exactly you ask. There are those who believe that the Powers usurped power from the Queens, and created oppressive rules and ordinances in order to better control the population and bend it to their will. This is, certainly, the primary article of faith of the Children of Andalore. The Children of Andalore view themselves as freedom fighters, seeking to rescue the population of Kalumnoir from the oppressive Powers. They are thought to work with underground organizations such as the Harbor Ghosts to circumvent regulations and laws in the city. Your band of adventurers will work together to advance the cause of the Children of Andalore, while pursuing individual interests and exploring an ever-expanding and detailed fantasy world.

How to prepare

Prior to play, you'll want to have both Fantasy Grounds Unity (the Free DEMO version is fine) and Discord installed on your devices. If you've not used these services before, don't worry! Newbies are more than welcome, and I try to make myself available to anyone ahead of time who needs technical assistance.

What I provide

I bring the story and all of the maps/mechanical necessities. I also provide access to a shared DnDBeyond campaign containing all of the character creation options.

Gameplay details

GAMEPLAY: Over the course of the campaign, players will experience a rough balance between combat, exploration, and roleplaying, though specific sessions may focus largely (or sometimes entirely) on one aspect of the game. SAFETY TOOLS: Lines and veils are used to set boundaries on content in a game. Lines are hard limits on content, things that the GM or the players don’t want to engage in. Setting up a line means that content won’t show up in the game at all. Veils are soft limits, things that are ok “behind a curtain” or when they “cut-to-black.” Setting up a veil means that the content might be in the game but not spotlighted or described in great detail. Lines and veils can be adjusted as needed throughout the game. I will discuss lines and veils with players prior to our first session together.

How will character creation work

This adventure is designed for characters who have been through the Introduction to Obsidian Shards: Shardstorm adventure. If you haven't played in that adventure, you can still create a character of 3nd level ahead of time. Character creation should be done either in DnDBeyond or Fantasy Grounds. Players will be given a link to join my DnDBeyond campaign, which will give them access to all of the published Dungeons & Dragons character options. Please be sure to check the Prep Materials after you sign up for more details about character creation, as well as links to my DnDBeyond campaign and the Discord server that we'll use for chat and voice during our sessions.
