About the adventure

In this short D&D campaign, the players will take on the role of test subjects for the Neverwinter Academy, a prestigious magical institution. Their task is to enter a mysterious artifact that creates a confusing extradimensional dungeon, with the goal of testing its limits and providing valuable feedback to the Academy's faculty. In return for their services, the players will receive generous compensation. This campaign is perfect for beginners, as it provides a low-stakes introduction to the world of D&D, while still offering plenty of opportunities for exploration and excitement. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you're new to tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs), this game is perfect for you. It offers a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, where you can explore your imagination and creativity without feeling intimidated or overwhelmed. You'll have plenty of opportunities to learn the ropes and get comfortable with the mechanics of the game. However, if you're a seasoned player, you'll find this game to be equally enjoyable. It offers enough combat to keep you engaged, but not so much that it dominates the game. You'll have ample opportunities to flex your tactical muscles and showcase your combat prowess, while also exploring character development and RP. What sets this game apart is its loose and fun approach. While there will be some structure to the game, it won't be overly rigid or strict. The game will be tailored to the group's preferences, allowing for flexibility and creativity. Expect lots of laughter, inside jokes, and silliness, as this game doesn't take itself too seriously. Finally, this game places a strong emphasis on RP. You'll have plenty of opportunities to interact with other characters and NPCs, build relationships, and explore the game world. Your character's backstory, personality, and motivations will be just as important as their combat abilities. So, whether you're a new player or a seasoned veteran, this game promises to be a fun and memorable experience. Get ready to unleash your creativity, engage in exciting combat, and explore a world full of adventure!

How to prepare

To ensure that we can start playing smoothly, there are a few things that players will need to have ready. Firstly, we will be using Discord as our main means of communication, so players will need to have a Discord account set up and be familiar with how to use it. Additionally, we will be playing on Roll20, an online platform for playing tabletop games, so players will need to have an account there as well. It is recommended that players familiarize themselves with the basics of Roll20 before the first session. Furthermore, players should come to the table with a few character ideas in mind, so that we can collaborate and create a well-rounded party. Finally, a positive, "can do" :) attitude is essential to ensure that we can work together and have a great time.

What I provide

I will supply access to source books and other creation materials in order to offer more options for character creation.

Gameplay details

1. Begin the Campaign with a Session 0, which includes character creation, setting expectations and discussing safety tools that will be used. 2. Use Lines and Veils to establish boundaries and ensure that all players feel comfortable with the content of the game. Encourage players to use X, N, and O Cards to communicate their comfort levels with the current content, and to check in with the group if necessary. 3. Respect the use of X and N Cards, and be willing to make changes to the game if necessary to ensure everyone's comfort. 4. Use O Cards as a regular check-in tool to ensure that everyone is still comfortable with the current content. 5. At the end of each game, use debriefing to reflect on the game, discuss any issues that arose, and highlight positive aspects of the game. This can also be an opportunity to work through any potential emotional bleed.

How will character creation work

In order to ensure a smooth start and an enjoyable experience for all players, character creation will take place during our session 0, which also serves as a chance for the group to get to know each other. Our adventure will range from levels 1 to 5, with room for advancement beyond that if the group achieves certain milestones. This allows for a sense of progression and growth as we embark on our journey together. By establishing our characters from the outset, we can create a cohesive and effective team, ready to face any challenges that come our way.
