About the adventure

Our heroes will find themselves playing a character based on a classic 90's wrestler! Turns out they make fantastic D&D characters. Protip to anyone else looking to duplicate: Don't do anything more than surface level research, because WOW they get depressing quick. Vince McMayhem has been using the Neverwinter Wrestling Federation as a front for his cocaine distribution business, and the police have finally caught up with him and his band of wrestlers. Some were involved and are what can only be described as "Very Guilty". Others are legitimately innocent and had no idea what was going on. This is a very short campaign designed to be started and finished in 1-3 sessions, depending on player choices. Each player starts with a secret that they can choose to share with the party or see if they can get away with it. Free points of Inspiration the first time any player casually works their PC's catchphrase into the conversation.

How to prepare

Players will need a Microphone, and I'd prefer a webcam. When players join, they'll be given a D&D Beyond campaign link to select a character from. We will use Beyond20 to roll dice from D&D Beyond on Roll20's virtual table top. I'll send character sheets and any special rules/magic items ahead of time via chat channels. I've found the PDF character sheets are easier to read and study than the interface on D&D Beyond.

What I provide

I have characters, a Roll20 account, and a Discord link ready to go!

Gameplay details

While there's at least one wrestler for every class, they are all optimized to be melee fighters. After all, the Neverwinter Wrestling Federation has to put on a show, and two wizards sniping from dimensions away is tough to fit on a TV screen in the dwarven bar. Since so many of the pre-gen characters are a rainbow of L6 Fighters and Barbarians, this campaign should be relatively simple for a beginner to hop into and run as a PC. While there will be some RP and Exploration, it will be combat-heavy, with encounters designed to be extremely difficult. Players will need to maximize the power of their characters and work as a team to accomplish the objectives and solve the puzzle of every fight.

How will character creation work

I have pre-generated characters each with their own secrets, backstories, and magic items pre-approved for use. They're all Level 6, and based on a Real-World WWF Character. I'm open to someone creating their own, but they'll need to point to a WWF wrester that isn't already on the list and send me the concept.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: High
  • Roleplay: Low
  • Puzzles: Medium
  • Experience Level: Beginner
