Dungeons & Dragons 5e

About the adventure

From the world of Matt Vancil's JourneyQuest, the world of Fartherall, based on the module "Nethadric's Pranks" published by Kevin Mickelson, this 5e D&D adaptation is an epic adventure path certain to challenge even experienced players. A birthday to remember! Golden Valley has stood for hundreds of years as a rare curiosity; a human city-state not yet under the thumb of the Wicked Kings. It’s no coincidence that this port city also happens to be the home of an ancient silver dragon that views the citizens as favorite pets, and has come to enjoy the adulation (as well as 50% of all income) they offer in exchange for his protection. As the dragon’s 1,300th birthday approaches, all is in readiness for the party of the century - except that the birthday beast seems more interested in scampering around in the woods than attending his own party! The Pelcasters (ruling family of Golden Valley) are relying on the heroes to help suss out the cause of the dragon’s sudden madness… and bring him back to his senses before the Wicked Kings catch wind of this! It’s a gloomy and somewhat overcast late spring day that finds you and your companions on the road to Golden Valley. You’ve been hired on as escorts to a caravan of seven wagons, all of which are bearing loads of merchandise that run the gamut from utterly practical to nearly obscene. There isn’t much traffic at all on the road these past several days, as King Pelcaster has decreed that all tourism into Golden Valley is suspended until after the grand festival they’re throwing in honor of Valmarrogandrex’s 1,300th birthday. Only caravans move in and out. You had just come within sight of Golden Valley’s gate, when the guide riding at the front of the caravan shrieks and falls off his horse to land ass-fi rst on the dirt road. He points with a trembling hand as what appears to be an absolutely massive white serpent/worm thing sprouts from the treeline to sway slowly back and forth as though inebriated. Your eyes travel down until you suddenly spot something even more frightening - a huge draconic face staring directly at you with an overstimulated gleam in its eye. You quickly realize that the “serpent” standing 10 feet taller than the treeline is actually the dragon’s tail. The wyrm gives an excited yowl, shakes its ass once more for luck, then leaps forward to attack!

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players will need a roll20 account for prior to Session 1 for play, for which a webcam and/or mic is helpful but not required. If you want to use your own dice, you will need to be able to show your rolls on screen, but roll20 has a nice in browser dice roller built in for free.

What I provide

I will provide all necessary materials for play via roll20, including maps, tokens, character sheets, sound effects, and back ground music.

Gameplay details

Lighthearted fun for all ages and experience levels. There is some avoidable combat, but the focus is on cleverness and humor. Expect a cleaner 'Monty Python' style PG-13 adventure. If all players agree before the session, this game can be played in either 5e D&D or the original 1e Pathfinder.
