About the adventure

Hello all, this posting is for a 5th Edition (5E) Dungeons & Dragons game from Wizards of the Coast. Join a group of people delving into a fantastic world from a pre-established setting or one that you as players build together from scratch! I'm currently available to run games set in: Dark Sun (Athas, a low magic desert setting with an emphasis on survival and hard choices) Eberron (A high magic setting set in the wake of a great conflict with mystery around every corner) Forgotten Realms (Faerun, a mid-high magic setting with rich history) Irraderia (Homebrew steampunk setting focused around elementals invading the material plane) Homebrew (Can be developed in conjunction with the players) Published Modules (Any) I run player centric games that are based heavily around incorporating player backstory into the overarching story and try to make sure everyone has an important part to play in the campaign. Player choices drive the story and can make any module being run wind up being completely different from how it's written, so don't feel constrained by the fact that it's a module as I've gotten enough experience over the years to shape it to your actions! Looking for a group of 4-5 people to delve into this adventure and shape the future of the chosen world for years to come. No experience is needed and I'm more than willing to teach new players how to play in a stress free and judgement free environment.

Additional Details

How to prepare

All that players need to provide is a microphone, a Roll20 Account, and/or a Discord Account. Webcam is an option but not required for play. No rules are required to be read ahead of time but players are more than willing to do so. Characters will be created during session 0 and as this is a virtual game will be done with virtual dice rollers and character sheets.

What I provide

I will provide a roll20.net game, character sheets, and can find artwork appropriate to the character and make tokens if players are interested.

Gameplay details

Role play will be a large part of of the game but there's no requirement staying in character the whole time. Table talk will always be a component of playing games and we're all here to have fun. Making suboptimal decisions for the sake of character is allowed provided that the whole table is in agreement for it. Combat will inevitably be part of the game at points, but can also be diffused through player action. Trying fun things while in combat is always going to be allowed and no serious optimization is required to contribute, challenged will be scaled to the party makeup and meant to challenge but not overwhelm or prevent anyone from taking part. Puzzles will be relatively straightforward parts of a dungeon or encounter and will have multiple ways to be solved, bypassed, or overcome. No experience is necessary to join my games, our first session will be a 'Session 0' consisting mostly of talking about and rolling up characters, setting up backstories and player connections, and preparing for the game ahead. If anyone is completely new to the game it will also be an opportunity to run through the basics of how the mechanics work, how to resolve rolls, and which dice to use in which situations.
