About the adventure

Welcome young mages to the illustrious college for the arcane arts known as Strixhaven. You have recently been enrolled into your first year at Strixhaven and as a first year student you'll meet new people, further your studies and create unforgettable memories! Just remember to follow the rules! Love the MTG Strixhaven setting? Love the idea of going to a magical school? Want to do so all while playing D&D??? Then this campaign is for you! This campaign will start at level 1 where a group of first year students meet in the detention bog after disobeying the rules either knowingly or unknowingly. This catalyst will form a new friend group as they continue their studies, delve into campus life and investigate the nature of magic and what might be going on behind closed faculty staff meetings. Campaign elements will be drawn from Strixhaven: Curriculum of Chaos and other supplementary sources that will all revolve around the character backstories and choices. As such, if players wish to use options from non-Wizards of the Coast published sources, they may pending GM approval. The goal is always to have fun and as long as it doesn't break the game why not let our imaginations run wild!

How to prepare

Players will need a mic, stable internet connection and a discord account. A webcam is not required and any player who decides not to use one will have their decision respected. A link to join a discord server will be provided and used as the home for all games, discussions and messaging. Players are encouraged to become familiar with the Strixhaven setting, denizens and locations as it will help with character integration and roleplay. Players will have access to the Strixhaven: Curriculum of Chaos (S:CoC) book through their DNDBeyond account through being in a shared campaign. NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY and any new players either to D&D or to the setting are welcome. Players are asked to bring a TOP 3 character templates they would like to play to their Session 0 with these basic building blocks: ~ Race *Strixhaven is a cosmopolitan setting and has peoples from all over the multiverse come to study there. Any of the published races available through DnDBeyond are acceptable choices as well as any 3rd party or homebrewed races (pending GM approval.) ~ Class *Any of the published classes from D&D's sources can be used as long as they fit thematically with the setting. Spellcasters of some variation are encouraged as the setting is about a college for the arcane arts but arguments can be made for any character class to attend Strixhaven. ~Background *Any of the published classes from D&D's sources can be used as long as they fit thematically with the setting including the Strixhaven Backgrounds listed in Strixhaven: Curriculum of Chaos. ~College *Students at Stixhaven choose what magical college they will specialize their studies in after their second year but I would like players to come into the campaign with an idea of where their character would like to go given their choice of class and personalities.
