About the adventure

There's the world that you know, and then there's the other world. The one lives in the shadows, that moves at just the edge of your sight, the darker, meaner, uglier world. Populated by Vampires and Werewolves, Fairy Folk and Demons, and countless other things that go bump in the night. So how is it that we don't see them? That we don't know they exist? Well, mankind has always been really good at dismissing that which they don't wish to acknowledge. But ignorance isn't the only line of defense humanity has. There is the White Council of Wizards. The White Council takes those that have a gift for the grand art of Magic, and trains them to help keep the status quo of the normal world. To keep the things of nightmares from being real to the average Joe. Sadly, there aren't as many of us as there once was. War will do that to any society. Yes, I said war. Currently, the White Council is at war with the Red Court of Vampires. Though I'd say something like this had been building up for some time, others think it falls squarely on the shoulders of one of our own; a wizard up in northern Illinois. But the whys and the whos are rather mute at this point. We only need to worry about the where's and when's. Of course, there are those that have been trying to take advantage of the war. With the White Council's resources and manpower stretched thin, more and more dark sorcerers have been cropping up. Smaller, weaker factions are making power plays and mad-grabs for new turf. We have some allies, but we need more. That's where you come in. We want you to gather together a team of gifted/aware individuals, and do what you can to help show them the ropes. I know we wouldn't usually involve minor powers, half-breeds, or even posers, but desperate times call for desperate measures. "The reward for work well done is more work" And a Wizard's work is never done.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players should have at least a basic understanding of the fundamentals of the Dresden-verse to be able to properly choose and play their characters (this means from the books, not the TV Series, as good as it was). An understanding of the FATE system will help, but isn't needed. Only tech needed is a login for Roll20 and a mic/headset.

What I provide

I will be providing everything else needed for the game, either by my own means or through Roll20.

Gameplay details

This game uses a specialized version of the FATE 3.0 system by Evil Hat Productions. This system is a rather 'Rules Lite' system, meaning it puts more emphasis on the story and characters than on stats and rolls. Given that The Dresden Files are a Urban Fantasy Detective series, there will be a lot of clue finding, evidence hunting, and spell slinging fun!

How will character creation work

As per the Dresden Files RPG, character creation will be done together, with the players having more than usual say on various aspects of the setting and story. Character creation usually takes a full session, and character sheets will be provided by Roll20.net.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Low
