Mind Blank: Untangling The Web of Chaos
Dungeons & Dragons 5e on Roll20

About the adventure
A heist gone wrong. A frantic search for freedom in a fog-covered landscape. A conspiracy that expands and twists with every new reveal. Mind Blank takes your adventuring party deep into the city of Varavaska, a megalopolis teeming with mystery, innovation, betrayal, and arcanotech. This shorter campaign (as short as 10, as long as 25, depending on player interest) helps weave your personal character journeys with an evil organization hell-bent on changing the city you've come to know as home for the worse. This game is heavily inspired by the Eberron setting, so if you like pulp and noir themes with grey morality and lots of twists and turns, you've come to the right place. My games tend to have lots of open storytelling and decision points that impact the next stage of the game, tend to have cinematic and tense combat, and tend to create webs of NPC interaction for the players to poke and prod and change.

How to prepare
I recommend taking a look at the basics of 5th edition, but I am happy to walk players through things and turn the first couple levels into tutorials if the table experience level is low. You don't need a webcam, but you will need a mic. Install Discord if you haven't, because I will be inviting you to a Discord server instead of using Roll20's video/audio. Make a roll20 account as well. We'll be making characters together during session 0, including rolling for stats. Think about the kind of character you want to play for a morally ambiguous, noir-based game.
What I provide
This is an online game, so I'm not bringing personal effects. Anything you need should be on the Virtual Tabletop.
Gameplay details
This game contains the themes of memory, illusion, betrayal, medical experimentation, power dynamics, and other noir-style themes, though I intend to design the details of the game to align with the group's needs and I design toward a group's sensitivity. This game will use a content limits survey to know topics to avoid and topics to handle with special care, as well as two surveys designed to understand each player's desire for different aspects of the game.

How will character creation work
We'll generate characters at lv. 1 during a session 0 where we'll get a sense for the story we want to tell within the broader narrative I've put together. We'll also likely spend the first few sessions establishing character history, unless the players are not keen on that.
Players can expect
- Combat/Tactics: High
- Roleplay: High
- Puzzles: Medium
- Experience Level: Open to all
