About the adventure

After the fall of Smaug, King Bard of Dale has sent messengers across the lands, tempting would-be adventurers with this offer: And so, Free Peoples of the North, gather up your courage and bring it to me. I have plans for the North such as you will scarce believe, but I need your strength to turn plan to deed. In return for playing your part in our rebirth, I will pay well in gold, land and the satisfaction of knowing you lead your people from the shadows into a brighter future. Greetings! Join as part of a group of Player-Heroes venturing into the Wilderlands in Middle-Earth, in the time between the Battle of Five Armies and the Fellowship of the Ring. Together we will craft your story, in one of the best-known fantasy settings of our time, and see what mark you make upon the world. I plan to start this game in June or July, running on Saturdays from 4pm-7pm EST, or 6pm-9pm PST. ____ Why hire a professional DM? Your time is valuable. Trusting your story to a professional means that you will get the most for that time, granting a break from the average day to day in which you can immerse into a world of adventure. Losing a campaign to schedule conflicts or player inconsistency is a struggle all of us have been through. Hiring a DM means that you will have a guarantee of the game playing regularly. The quality of your campaign immersion and the level of DM preparation can make or break a session. You are paying for a devoted storyteller who knows your character, the rules, and the lore of the world to give you the best experience possible. Why go Indigo? I will write the campaign to fit you and your party, tailoring sessions to best fit your needs and play style. Prefer role-play and exploring handcrafted towns? Taming the wilds to ensure the safe passage of goods and travelers? A mix of both? Your campaign will be whatever suits you, with a plot and adventuring companions that complement your play style. If you are interested, please email me at indigostorytimes@gmail.com to start the interview and integration process!

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players must have a reliable microphone, working sound/headphones, and stable internet. Players must also be willing to join a game-specific group chat (over on Guilded), and follow basic server rules/codes of conduct. These things make the game smoother, diminishing time spent in distraction attempting to solve technical issues (though when these do inevitably happen, I am always happy to help).

What I provide

I bring you the world and its inhabitants, through description and art (both provided in the source material and made by me). All you will need to bring to a session is yourself and the majority of your attention (as there is no escape from distraction in the world of today.)

Gameplay details

LotR for 5e uses D&D 5e rules as its base, with a few modifications (including game-specific races and classes, Shadow points, and modified rules regarding rests and magic healing) that will be covered thoroughly in the Guilded group chat and in session 0 (which is free).

How will character creation work

We will do character creation in session 0, after discussing the race and class options, as well as the theme we want for the campaign. I expect we will discuss characters and classes in the Guilded group chat for this game, as well.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: High
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Beginner
