About the adventure

It's the dawn of a new age in Halcyon City! Heroes and Villains walk the streets, ushering in an age of intrigue, adventure... and danger! Do you have what it takes to make it as a hero in this new world? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This game takes place in a post-war Halcyon City where super heroes, not nuclear weapons, were responsible for ending World War II. Some things are different, but others remain the same. Franklin Roosevelt, kept alive by new medical marvels, has been elected president for a 5th consecutive term. Rivaling ideologies of communism and capitalism battle for world supremacy, building an arms race of super powered individuals that could save the world or destroy it. And the ever present specters of racism, fascism and bigotry still roam large in the seeming utopia of Halcyon City. As young heroes, you must choose what path to follow in this new society. Will you join the US government in their battle for global supremacy? Will you rid the streets of crime and corruption, becoming a champion of the down-trodden? Or will you forge your own path in this new age of heroes and villains? The choice is yours!

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players should have a strong internet connection and working microphone, but webcam is not needed. A digital character super sheet will be used to keep track of player character advancements and relationships. Dice roll bots enabled on the Discord server will be used for actions. Quickplay guides are available to players in the resources channel.

What I provide

A Discord server will be created to host character creation, resources, safety guidelines, OOC and IC discussion pages. A MASKS: A New Generation quickplay guide will be provided, as well as a character master sheet and list of safety guidelines. Players are encouraged to use individual Discord channels to flesh out their characters and associated NPCs. Rolling software will be included in the game channel.

Gameplay details

To establish lines and veils, a google doc of the TOT Digital RPG Consent Checklist will be included as part of the application process. Limits and guidelines will be established during session 0 to ensure that all players are aware of what is and isn't allowed. X, N and O cards will be available if players do not feel comfortable, and can be used in full-game chat or private message depending on the player's level of comfort. Debriefs will be used at the close of each session to determine how everyone feels about the campaign, and players are encouraged to contact the GM privately with any concerns they don't wish to share with other players. All concerns will remain anonymous, unless the player chooses to address the party in its entirety. Interested applicants should be aware that violence, death and stressful situations are generally associated with the games style and setting. Accommodations will be made to any player that requests them, but applicants uncomfortable with general Shonen-style situations are encouraged to find a different game. This is a setting that may be generally challenging to younger players, so gameplay is not recommended for anyone under the age of 13.

How will character creation work

Applicants are expected to submit 2-3 characters to be fleshed out during Session 0. Character possibilities will be discussed beforehand. Masks is a collaborative game, and players should be comfortable having their characters linked to other PCs.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
