About the adventure

A Beginner Adventure for Levels 1-5 The Lost Mine of Phandelver from the Dungeons & Dragons Starter is the perfect introduction to the world’s greatest roleplaying game. As you journey down the famous Sword Coast of Faerûn, you come to a beleaguered town at the hire of Gundren Rockseeker, who is searching there for an ancient mystery of great promise. Can you find the Lost Mine of Phandelver before the forces of evil abuse its secrets? Can you become the heroes of Phandalin? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hello! This is one of my favorite modules, mostly because it's quick, fun, and perfect for new players and veteran players who want to capture or recapture the thrill of being a classic fantasy folk hero. This game should take between 6 and 10 sessions to complete depending on the party's pacing.

Additional Details

How to prepare

We will be playing using Roll20 and Discord. This will require a Roll20 account and a Discord account, both of which are free and painless, and can be used entirely in-browser. A microphone is required and a webcam is a plus. Please arrive with a basic understanding of what Dungeons and Dragons is and how it's played. Bring a good attitude and a character idea that gets you excited!

What I provide

The entire game will take place on Roll20, which provides us with all the tools we need to play the game. I include music, official maps and campaign materials, and paid features on Roll20 including dynamically interactive lighting, intuitive scripting (You'll be able to turn your torch on and off at will and see the effect on the map, for example), and much more.

Gameplay details

A typical session will consist of light conversation before promptly starting the game. Games will last roughly three hours, with flexibility. Most games with consist of a healthy mix of combat, roleplay, and exploration as you make your way together through the module. This campaign is generally very family-friendly (expect combat and death, the level of detail will be agreed upon by everybody's level of comfort). There is zero tolerance for sexually explicit roleplay and any out of character hostility will result in removal from the game. We're all here to have fun!

How will character creation work

Character creation will be done individually, if your level of experience allows, or as a group during a dedicated "Session Zero" if anyone needs guidance. A Session Zero will still happen regardless, so we'll have the opportunity to iron out the party to work well together.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Beginner
