Make friends, realize your best self, and have a ton of fun by learning how to play Dungeons and Dragons! We have THE BEST Learn to Play session out there. Our Learn to Play is extremely low stress. We take things step by step, building on one concept at a time and use follow along text and visual guides to enhance our learn-by-doing curriculum. Our Game Masters are extremely kind and patient, and we will ensure that you are not pressured by the game's pace. Also, our games are limited to 5 players, meaning you get abundant personal attention. Playing requires very little preparation. We provide a walkthrough with screenshots to assist with installing the necessary apps and a Joining the Game guide. We provide everything you need to play including premade characters, virtual dice, and all software licensing. The only cost to you is to sign up! Highest Production Quality We provide all licensing needed for Fantasy Grounds virtual tabletop and Zoom. The game will feature high quality, custom maps with dynamic lighting effects. Immersive ambient music is provided through Syrinscape Online. All of our GM's have professional video and audio set ups and are experts at storytelling, encounter building, game mechanics, and voice acting. Game Details Your game may not occur at the scheduled time on StartPlaying. After we assemble a party of 5, we will use the Doodle scheduling app to determine when to play based on everyone's availability. Games are 3.5 hours long with a short break midway and 30 minutes of technical troubleshooting at the beginning of the session. Social Contract All games in our Fathom campaign setting, including the Learn to Play session, use a social contract with guidelines to keep game content at roughly a PG-13 level. All of our games are inclusive of women, LGBTQ+ folx, and BIPOC and any bigotry or harassment will result in an immediate ban with no refund provided. We also design our adventures to avoid the racist and imperialist pitfalls that are inherent to mainstream D&D and ensure diversity amongst our NPCs. How to prepare

Players will need a computer with a reliable internet connection, a mic, and a camera. Headphones and a quiet space to play are also important. Players will need to accept our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before playing. After accepting, players will be provided with guides on how to install Fantasy Grounds and Syrinscape Online and how to join the game. Fantasy Grounds provides all materials needed to play: virtual dice, character sheets, maps, and tokens.

What I provide

We provide all licensing for Fantasy Grounds, Zoom, and Syrinscape Online. There is no additional cost to that of the session.

Gameplay details

Our Learn to Play session takes place in our Fathom campaign setting. Fathom has a detailed social contract that outlines appropriate conduct and themes that our sessions allow. In sum, it establishes a "do no harm" policy, but specifically forbids any harassment and verbal assault. Breach of the social contract will result in a permanent ban from our games with no refund provided. We allow players to stop the game at any time for any reason with no justification necessary. We can discuss the circumstances as a group or in private with the GM and resolve as necessary - potentially rewinding the game or skipping ahead.

How will character creation work

All players will be provided with a choice of a premade level 1 character sorted by complexity level. Low complexity characters are very intuitive and straightforward to play. Medium complexity characters have a variety of available actions in combat while high complexity characters allow for the greatest strategic play. Pick a character based on your comfort level with RPGs and have a great time!

Players can expect
