Additional Details

How to prepare

A good quality microphone (preferably a headset) is required to use Discord. I also strongly encourage players to use video during games. Games using video conferencing are usually more enjoyable for all parties, as video prevents misunderstandings and miscommunication. In addition, you will need (free) accounts for Discord and Roll20, and you might want to download the Discord client. All game materials (handouts, character sheets, maps, tokens) will be available through Roll20.

What I provide

Maps, character sheets, digital dice, and handouts will all be available digitally through Roll20.

Gameplay details

This game is designed to teach the mechanics as you play so we may be going in and out of character throughout the course of the module. This also means that it may be a little more rules-heavy than you are used to. This is important to build the foundation, however as situations warrant I may make adjustments. Anytime I do deviate from a specific rule I will attempt to explain the correct way beforehand to help minimize confusion. I want to also remind everyone that this system and module were written during a different time and some of the terms and situations definitely did not age well. I will make every attempt to make substitutions that are more appropriate but please feel free to let me know if I overlooked something.

How will character creation work

During Session 0 we will learn how to create characters using the 1e format. These characters will be the ones you will use during gameplay. Due to the structure of 1e, I may have everyone create a couple of characters. I will go into more detail during the session. All characters will be starting at level 1.
