Learn to Play Dungeons and Dragons
Dungeons & Dragons 5e on Roll20, Zoom
Price per player-session
About the adventure
Specifically designed to help new people learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons. Characters are designed for you, and the session will include instruction on the most basic concepts while playing the game itself. After picking characters, players will go through a typical adventure that is meant to help you learn the game. Players are encouraged to roleplay with their character at this time up to their comfort level. If you're not sure at what level you feel comfortable with, that's fine! This game is designed to help you find what makes sense to you. As the game continues, you will have a chance to use strategy, combat and puzzle solving in order to complete the adventure. Questions are encouraged! This game is designed to help you find out what type of roleplaying game style you like, what you're comfortable with, as well as understanding the basic rules. We will also cover how to use a character on the virtual tabletop Roll20. You will have a chance to practice everything you need in order to play this game. About me: I'm a middle school teacher during the day (English and Social Studies) with 18 years of experience. I have 30 plus years of gamemastering and have taught many people in the past how to play roleplaying games. I really hope that you have a great experience playing this game and become excited to play another.
How to prepare
You will need a webcam and a mic. We are using Zoom for this as well as Roll20. You will get sent an invite for Roll20, and if you don't have an account there, you will have to sign up (don't worry, it's free). You will also get an invite for a Zoom meeting. Please make sure to have Zoom installed and that you're signed up for the game on Roll20.
What I provide
Everything is already set up online!
In order to make sure that the players feel supported, or if a situation concerns that requires the game to get paused, my "safety tools" are basic "yellow light, red light". Yellow meaning that you are concerned about something going on in the game and need clarification. Red means that we will pause the game to address any major concerns. A player can also just speak up if they need assistance. Anybody who wishes to talk after the game for any questions or concerns may do so as well. Please note, while some games have a horror component to them, this one-shot game will not focus on horror. Please note, it's my goal to make this game a pleasant experience for everybody involved. If things are not going as expected, please let me know. Overall, the games I run tend to be at a PG-13 level. I do modify based upon the age group (I run family games with ages 8 to 56 in the group) and we will discuss protocol prior tp playing to make sure that everybody is comfortable.
