How to prepare

Players just need a device that they can load discord on and type on. Since this is an asynchronous play by post, there's no official session time as it'll just be running through the week. However, a mic/ webcam will be needed if the player would like to voice/ video chat with me or the other players at any point, however this is optional. An account on dndbeyond.com will be needed as it'll make character creation easier, along with allow us to use the Avrae bot in the server. Adventurers can either use physical dice, or I have a rolling bot in a "Dice Tray" channel, so they can choose their preference. Finally, everyone will need a discord account to join the server.

Gameplay details

Players can expect fast paced combat and a fiction first experience. We will be using the D&D 5E system, however there are some home-brewed changes along with alterations on the fly to best suit the session and players so that everyone has fun the way they want to! I've also created some custom bots to aid gameplay and have it be exciting! We'll be playing by doing plat by post on discord. I have a server setup where players will get the "Echolighter" tag and be able to enter the "Last City of Echolight" category and access everything. In there you'll be able to see a quick explanation of the rules, a how to on character creation, and some other general info on the server section. There are several rooms and there'll be explanation in there, but each room serves a different purpose to keep the asynchronous flow smooth. The amount pays for the week of play by post as we'll be doing it asynchronously through text so it'll be an ongoing thing each day when people have time to play. During the sessions we'll be using X, N, and O cards and open door for safety tools. At any point during gameplay if a player needs to they can send me a private message (or in the chat) with the X or N to let me know if something is bothering them to a degree of discomfort. Additionally, a break can be taken by a player whenever they feel necessary, via the open door, especially since it's asynchronous PbP so stepping away for a bit is already built in. Lastly, we'll set up any specific lines and veils before we fully begin to make sure we're all aware of everyones content preferences. DM me at any point with questions! How will character creation work

Characters will be created before the game in discord at any point before the start of the campaign. They'll be level 1 and of any class, race, etc as the player chooses. Adventurers will need a dndbeyond.com account, but with that it should be a fairly quick and painless process. Once created I'll be sharing my dndbeyond content with the campaign members so everyone will have access to an expanded library. In the discord there will be step by step instructions and I will answer questions at any point as they arise. Since it is a campaign it might be helpful to join the discord and chat with fellow adventurers to see what classes people are thinking about.
