About the adventure

The world of Estrasha is a world flooded long ago. After ages, land was found. Thick jungles cover the vast island, filled with deadly creatures, plants, and stranger things that are neither. Even the environment is found deadly. But there were other horrors. Demons walk the jungles. They war with each other but do not ignore the newcome Folk. Furred, lupine creatures, savage and violent, possess terrible strength and endurance, and seem born for battle. Pale, mysterious blood-drinkers appear in strange finery to summon lesser evils, and they wield magics beyond the power of all but the greatest of magi among the Folk. Word is spread by the fastest ships, and quickly the divided Folk come together, drawn by a combination of myth, mystery, the promise of adventure and glory, and desperation. A delicate new society forms, under the guidance of the wisest of the Folk. Technology and knowledge are shared, compared, and innovation begins to occur, and the mysteries of power which each of the Folk had gathered is combined. A fortress grows upon the waves, quickly into a city as arriving ships are scrapped to feed the symbol of strength cooperation. The Alliance Effort is born. In the race towards military supremacy the inventors of the gnomes, the artisans of the elves, and the magi of the kachina create intelligent golems of steel to guard the sorties and match the strength of the savage Lir, and absorb the powerful magics of the blood-drinking Menai. You are as part of a military company charged with exploration of land, mapping the patrol area, and engaging anything hostile creatures. The military hierarchy is new, untested, and fraught with a confusion of different cultural traditions. Land is hostile, deadly in ways the Effort does not yet understand. Somewhere within it lie the secrets to you people’s past and the promise of a better life. But between you and those lofty goals lies all the demons of the Firmament. The siren call of Land pulls you, driven by myth and legend. Savage and beautiful, the Firma offers challenge and promise. The hopes and dreams of the world ride on your shoulders as you discover an otherworld of danger, beauty, myth, and find the pieces of a broken world and work to reassemble them. Why were the Folk cast onto the uncaring seas for untold generations? Why has land been found after so long? What kept it hidden from the folk for eons? Why are the demon Lir and Menai found there? What lost magics and knowledge is hidden there? Were the Folk there in the distant past? Can the Alliance Effort hope to answer these questions and make a home for the folk within the jungles and mountains of holy Land?

How to prepare

LandFall has elements of survival/horror, action and adventure, epic, and the mythical. This will be a hardcore-style game and you will be starting out as members of a military company on patrol. The patrols are usually dealing with creatures far more powerful than any individual soldier. The story and overall campaign involves some sandboxing, heavy character involvement in the plot/story, exploration of the environment and history, problem-solving, and if they survive your characters will be directly involved in answering the mysterious questions about Estrasha’s History, the Firmament, and the future of the Folk. Make sure you have stuff ready before game: Notepad to keep game notes and questions Water Snacks Fidget toy Mic, headphones, discord setup Inspiration: miniatures, art, lighting, etc

What I provide

ROll20 will be used for evocative 2D maps, game notes, die rolling, character sheets (D&DBeyond is fine, too!) and tokens. Discord is used for voice, music, and sharing game art images.

Gameplay details

-Content Warning: Violence, creation of suspense, descriptive combat, NPC and potential character death. Combat will be dangerous. Horror and survival elements may not be suitable for some players. -Hard NOs: Torture, sexual abuse. I do NOT include these in my games. If any players attempts to force this they will be kicked. -Romantic scenarios, as well as "bad stuff" may happen "off-screen", but may only be hinted at in the vaguest of terms (that way players are each free to use their imagination if they choose) -I am familiar with the safety toolkit, and make all of them available in-game. Please be respectful of these tools and do not abuse them for game advantage. They are here to help players, not characters. Tools available: X/N/O cards are available for players- O=player ok to continue, N=players is becoming uncomfortable with content/events, X=players needs to stop or withdraw for a moment and reassess their experience. Script change-players can request Stop, FF, RW events if they are becoming triggered or feeling unsafe. The group can take Breaks as needed Open Door- If a player has to leave the session or campaign for reasons of emotional or psychological safety that player will be allowed to return as they desire. - Additionally I am *very* open to aftercare, debriefing, session wrap with highlights and stars and wishes! -Character creation/session 0 will give players an opportunity to mention specific triggers and needed boundaries, and each player will be expected to respect the boundaries set. Violators will be kicked.

How will character creation work

Since the campaign is in session I will offer a free voice session to help you build you character, learn the important setting details, and get you caught up on the game so far. Characters will start out on the Firma. The Effort wars with he Lir, an ancient pillar has been found with the touch of healing in the jungle, strange lights are seen in the western sky, and a forward scouting company is charged with seeking out the magical emanations the the Effort magi can sense on land. The only races I am allowing are Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Half-Orc, Gnome, Undead (homebrewed), Shifter (will be homebrewed a bit). Subspecies and variants are good if it isn’t OP and I can fit it into the game world. Healing magic is a lost ability (message me if you plan on being a healer, We’ll talk!) Equipment with be issued to the characters, but feel free to take basic equipment, 4 common magic items, 4 uncommon magic items. Think over a sublcass from a *different* class that you would like to add to your character. I will use this as a form on non-level based character growth, and it will play into the story as well.
