About the adventure

Session one hook- With classic flair, the adventure opens in a tavern. While there, the party overhears rumours about children going missing across the city. No one seems to know the cause.  Campaign setting- Several thousand years ago, the land of Steymhorod disappeared from the surface of Eldura. What had once been a mountainous region with fragrant springs, moderate summers, and colourful falls descended into the Shadowlands. Its borders became separated from the rest of the plane by an impenetrable mist. Steymhorod remains in the shade at all times. Cloud, lit only by weak sunlight, even at the brightest times of day. The forests remain on the cusp between autumn and winter, a state of living death. A dark vampire lord called Draego rules over the land. This campaign has been created and purchased from Jonathan Ball and Beth Ball, Grove Guardian Press. It is a 5E SRD OGL compatable campaign, and it takes your character from level 3 to 12. If you're looking for a campaign filled with vampires, a penny-dreadful-themed world, a balance between role-playing and combat, and a DM that encourages and adapts well to the party exploring the world of Steymorod, then this campaign is for you. Between 3-6 players, starting at level 3, you can be any class or race in the 5E SRD OGL. This is a 18+ adventure due to blood, gore, violence, language, and darker themes. This campaign will use discord for voices, and Owlbear rodeo for the virtual tabletop experience. This includes interactive maps and tokens.

How to prepare

You will make your characters during session 0 to avoid everyone turning up as e.g. a cleric XD. You may want to have your own dice, or you can use the digital dice on owlbear rodeo. You will need a microphone, the internet, and a suitable device for this campaign. You may struggle to access the maps and the interactive element of this campaign if you use your phone. A tablet, laptop, or computer should be more than suitable.

What I provide

We meet virtually. I will create custom maps on inkarnate and upload them all to owlbear rodeo, as well as tokens based in session 0 information. I'm bringing my skills as a teacher and an author to this campaign. Huzzah! Let's have some fun!

Gameplay details

Players can send me their X, N, and O cards digitally, so the rest of the party don't have to know. In session 0 I will go over what to expect in this campaign. Aftercare and debriefing can be a nice, calm, and relaxed conversation at the end of the session, if the players wish to have it. This can also continue digitally if they wish to do this privately. X, N and O checks will allow me to adapt during the game. Rest assured, the most important thing for me is that the party are having fun and can say at any time if they are X or N, in whatever way makes them comfortable, and there is an open door policy as well. Players can mute themselves/turn off campera/step away whenever they feel they need to. I've never caused any issues in any of the campaigns I've run in the past in person, so I take that as a good sign ^_^.

How will character creation work

During session 0 I will introduce myself, the expectations and safety measures for the campaign, and the party will get to know each other as well. I will share help sheets, character sheets (including a reader-friendly version that my ASD and dyslexic players like to use) and prepare you for the world of Steymhorod. As a party, you can create your characters using D&D beyond and standard array, to ensure you cover all niches, and get to know each other. You can then send me your character sheet, and we can commence with session 1 right away if everyone agrees they are ready.
