About the adventure

Justice for Neverwinter is a series of Dungeons & Dragons (5th edition) modules written with a social justice focus. The 2nd offering in the series, "Gender Criminals," written by Alison Cybe (and friends) focuses on themes of gender identity, gender rights, transphobia, and transgender support and care. The adventure is written for 4-6 2nd-4th level characters and is intended for ages 13+. The adventure has 3 acts with opportunity for role-playing, mini quests, and two combats. The adventure is designed to take 4-5 hours and is scheduled for 5 hours. There will be two on-line games (on StartPlaying.Games) and three in-person games offered this month. (On-demand games may also be scheduled.) Half of all money collected will go to the Trevor Project, to provide advocacy and support for GLBTQAI+ youth. (StartPlaying games may donate all proceeds and MAY have a matching donation -- up to $1,000 total for the month of June from all participating games.)

Gameplay details

Your Game Minister is trained in Therapeutic Gamemastering and Trauma Response. We will use the following Safe Gaming practices: • We will discuss and agree to a behavioural covenant before starting the game. • We will discuss and use "scene directions" such as "Ouch", "Pause", "Rewind", "Pull Back," and "Fast Forward." • There will be a break between each act. • There will be a check-in after the adventure has finished. House Rule #1 - Inspiration Inspiration will be unlimited and is earned by being clever, being entertaining to everyone, and being cooperartive. 1 Inspiration grants ADVANTAGE or DISADVANTAGE to a D20 roll; 2 Inspiration grants a re-roll; 3 Inspiration allows bending a rule; 5+ Inspiration allows a GAME CHANGING EVENT. Inspiration may be pooled and given away without restrictions. House Rule #2 - Critical A 1 on a D20 is always a failure and may be a critical failure at the GM's discretion. A 20 on a D20 is always a success of some form and my be a critical success at the GM's discretion. In combat, critical successes can be extra damage or dramatic effects, as the player chooses. (Extra damage for a crit is maximum damage + rolling the normal dice) House Rule #3 - Using Potions Drinking a Ready Potion is a Bonus Action. Finding a Potion and Drinking it is an Action. Using a Ready Potion on another character is an Action. Finding and Using a Potion on another character is an Action and a Bonus Action.
