About the adventure

ONESHOT! This is one of the games in my portal series(like tales of the yawning portal) so we are dropping a willing party of adventures in a portal that brings them to an area of conflict in the world. The intent is for them to solve it and come back, but the adventures vary. This one focuses in on a tropical volcanic island and the resident silver dragon who protects it. He's recently gone missing and without his presence, the volcano goes from dormant to active! Find the dragon before it's too late!

How to prepare

Prepare by making a level 5 character as described below(How will character creation work)! They will need a mic and ideally everyone adds me on discord so that I can make a group chat. You need discord and a free Roll20 account to join the game. We will do dice through Roll20's dice rolling function.

What I provide

I have my prep materials and a couple drawings I've done for flavor purposes. I've premade the maps on Roll20 because I've run this game before.

Gameplay details

Session zero: For oneshots the session zero is the first 20-30 mins of the game. This is when other safety tools will be addressed as well. Lines and Veils: My lines are sexual assault and racism/sexism/homophobia/transphobia. Anything sexual at my table is veiled, and will only occur in 18+ games. Luxton Technique: If anyone has any outright triggers that they are worried might come up in the game, you can say them now. My main triggers are sexual assault and parental abuse. If something comes up that is triggering, refer to XNO XNO: Because this is an online game, I don't have physical cards. When it comes to this, you can type the letter in the roll20 chat or as a private message to me on Discord. X is for triggers and when bad things happen. When an X happens the scene stops and there is a small break. N is for when something is headed a direction you don't want it to go. This will be addressed as a scene shift or a tone shift to steer away from the topic. O is for me to check after a dark scene that everyone is OKAY! Can also be used by players during dark in character moments. Breaks can be taken as needed. I usually plan a break about halfway through the session, 10-15 mins for bathroom or getting food/drink Gameplay Details: Half investigation half combat. Some jungle combat and a little volcano business. Epic multistage battle, that was the idea that drove me to create this game.

How will character creation work

You will create a level 5 character. You can use standard array, point buy, or roll 7 4d6(drop the lowest, like if you got 4, 4, 2, 1 on a roll you would drop the 1 and have 10). They can be created beforehand or as part of session zero. You get one uncommon magic item! If you want to use something homebrew, send it to me for approval! The characters will be part of an established adventuring party who have been drawn to an adventurers' guild. The guild's high wizard has crafted a portal that brings players to a random zone of conflict to solve.
