Introduction to D&D 5e - Death in the Wood - Session 0 Free

About the adventure

The Bell Wood has always been rumored to be a dangerous place, full of strange creatures and odd happenings. Timber from the wood is highly sought after for its reputed magical properties, so brave foresters sometimes dare the wood to harvest trees to finance their futures. But this time, people are dying. Loggers are vanishing, their mutilated bodies recovered from the undergrowth hours or days later. What has changed in the wood? Can anyone solve the mystery? And can they survive the investigation? A Death in the Wood is a great one shot campaign from the DM's Guild and is designed for 4 or 5 characters of first level. Lasting around 4-5 hours. It's a great game for beginners, newbie’s or novices, and I will be helping guide and educate you on D&D 5e if needed. Its a moderate RP game with lots of chance for character development and acting out your heroes, there’s still combat of course but it’s not all about a dungeon crawl. If you like a bit of character interaction, combat and a whodunnit mystery, then this is a good game for you! I like to help my groups make friendships with each other so we can all be silly and have some fun. Hate Tech or Socially Anxious!? I don’t like tech either so I’ve tried use the easiest one. I host my session on my own private and secure Foundry VTT server. It's quite intuitive but I will always be on hand to provide support and tutorials on it's use. Feeling anxious of meeting new people? Don't worry! So do I! But TTRPG's are all about breaking out of our comfort zones and meeting new people. You will be able chat to me before hand, on my discord server, so you will know me before the game and I make sure all the players are integrating. If you have a shy day like I do from time to time, that’s cool, we'll get through it together.

Additional Details

How to prepare

You will need a Discord Account, a mic is essential but a webcam is Optional. A web browser like Chrome or Brave works best with Foundry but any browser should work. Have a think what you want from the game and your play style. You can create your own characters ahead of time or I can provide a list of official pre-generated characters.

What I provide

A shared Discord chat room, shared DnD Beyond resources such as: Player's Handbook, DM's Guide, Monster manual etc And a fully prepped Foundry VTT server with maps, tokens with musical ambiance & effects!

Gameplay details

Session 0 is fee AND will be our character selection (or creation if you prefer) and Foundry VTT overview. I can help show you around it's interface and how to take your character and interact with them. We will also go over the goals of the game, everyone's expectations and set any boundaries you may have. I can provide a RPG Consent Checklist for anyone who wishes to let me know privately, any subjects they are not comfortable with and I will do my best to modify the adventure to exclude those items.

How will character creation work

I can provide a list of official pre-generated characters or we can make your own via DnD Beyond and import them to Foundry VTT. Feel free to create your own! I am happy to help you through that process.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
