Intro to D&D 5e, Out of the Abyss Prison Break!

About the adventure

Out of the Abyss is a tumultuous campaign set in the subterranean world of the Forgotten Realms, a sprawling underground system called the Underdark. Unfortunately, your journey in/through the Underdark begins with misfortune. You find yourself the unwilling prisoners of Drow, housed in the Underdark prison outpost, Velkynvelve. Your first goal? Escape. And maybe the darkened halls of the Underdark will provide solace. This adventure is published by Wizards of the Coast and is a longform campaign, levels 1-15. However, this session is an introduction to Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition as well as an introduction to the campaign at large. In this session you will create a character, learn how to play, and play through your prison escape from the Drow. I am new to the platform and want to make sure there is enough interest in a new DM to warrant launching into the whole campaign.

How to prepare

Webcam is preferred but not required, mic is required. Please have an account on Roll20 and Discord.

What I provide

I will bring the adventure, my knowledge of 5th edition, a discord server for you to join, and a roll20 game for you to join.

Gameplay details

Expect the first part of our session to be character creation. The latter part will be a regular session consisting of your escape attempt from the drow prison.

How will character creation work

Character creation will happen at the start of the session. All you need is D&D Beyond or a physical printed D&D 5e character sheet. The latter of which is what I focus on as I believe that gives the best understanding of how the game works.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
