About the adventure

About the adventure: In Icewind Dale, adventure is a dish best served cold. Beneath the unyielding night sky, you stand before a towering glacier and recite an ancient rhyme, causing a crack to form in the great wall of ice. Beyond this yawning fissure, the Caves of Hunger await. And past this icy dungeon is a secret so old and terrifying that few dare speak of it. The mad wizards of the Arcane Brotherhood long to possess that which the god of winter’s wrath has so coldly preserved—as do you! What fantastic secrets and treasures are entombed in the sunless heart of the glacier, and what will their discovery mean for the denizens of Icewind Dale? Can you save Ten-Towns from the Frostmaiden’s everlasting night? Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden is a tale of dark terror that revisits the forlorn, flickering candlelights of civilization known as Ten-Towns and sheds light on the many bone-chilling locations that surround these frontier settlements. Explore the frontier of Icewind Dale. Maps and guides will aid you on your journey through a land of isolation, paranoia, and deadly cold.

Gameplay details

Players can expect an open-world sandbox exploration with a red thread theme running through that they can follow up on if they wish. There will be several longer and shorter plot-lines and quests for the player to pursue, major and minor events that the players can chose to follow up on or ignore. The setting is a challenging one, set in a tough survivalist scenario, in a region where heroes are sorely needed. The players can chose to rise to the challenge or tactically back down to fight another day. It's a make your own story kind of adventure, set in the wonderful and demanding backdrop of the Icewind Dale.

How will character creation work

# Character Creation - Start level: 3 - Sources: Official WotC material, UA & homebrew upon approval only. - Stats: Standard Array, Point Buy or roll macro in the Roll20 room. - How to do the roll macro: roll twice, you MUST pick one of the two, let me know which one. The stats you roll are NOT chronological, and they are BEFORE racial bonuses. Once you have rolled and if you're unhappy with the result, you can default back to standard array or point buy. - Note: This is a winter focused campaign, please keep that in mind when creating your character. Make sure your character has a reason for being there and caring. The DM will help the players to build their characters during the session zero.

Players can expect
