About the adventure

Icewind Dale has become trapped in a perpetual winter. Ferocious blizzards make the mountain pass through the Spine of the World exceedingly treacherous, and this land has not felt the warmth of the sun in over two years. In fact, the sun no longer appears above the mountains, not even in what should be the height of summer. In this frozen tundra, darkness and bitter cold reign as king and queen. Most dale residents blame Auril the Frostmaiden, the god of winter’s wrath. The shimmering aurora that weaves across the sky each night is said to be her doing—a potent spell that keeps the sun at bay... Journey to the the Far North in an epic adventure spanning levels 1 to ~12 where you will meet new friends and foes as you battle the divine embodiment of winter’s fury. This campaign is for all experience levels and is a good mix of combat, roleplaying, and exploring. I provide all the maps and tokens as well as the license for Foundry VTT, an excellent online tabletop that is free for you to use and easy to learn in minutes.

Additional Details

How to prepare

You'll need a computer and web browser that supports the basic requirements of Foundry VTT. This is most desktops and laptops. You'll also need a microphone, ideally a headset as they help reduce background noise and echoes. You won't need any software as Foundry VTT is web based. You'll just need to create an account (for free) and then you will be good to go. If you are new to D&D, it certainly does not hurt to have a rudimentary understanding of the game rules and your character's abilities. D&D 5e's Standard Reference Document (SRD) is completely free and provides most of what you'll need. The internet is also full of free articles and YouTube videos to help you learn more about anything you'd like! But experience is the best teacher! The D&D community is extremely welcoming, and there will never be any gatekeeping on my watch.

What I provide

I will bring my Foundry VTT license, sourcebooks, modules, maps and tokens. We will play entirely in Foundry so you just need to bring a web browser and your imagination and the desire to have fun.

Gameplay details

Players can expect a constantly expanding world around them with fast paced combat and a large amount of roleplaying and exploration. Rules include RAW also with some custom, but quite common, variations. If you have any particular phobias or issues that cause you discomfort, please send me a message and let me know and I will do my best to remove, or at the least minimize, any issue(s). I will also distribute a consent checklist for you to fill out (at your option). The number one goal is of course to have fun!

How will character creation work

Depending on player wishes and timing before the first session, we will work together in Discord before the first session to create your character in D&D Beyond and most likely have a Session 0. Some players like to spend a few hours working together with others figuring out everyone's character and backstory and others want to jump right out there slaying monsters and exploring exotic locales! A Session 0, if had, will always be free. Afterwards I'll simply import your character from D&D Beyond right into Foundry VTT. We will also have an overview on the use of Foundry for anyone new to the program. It's very easy and intuitive. D&D Beyond, used for character creation, is free and easy to use. Through content-sharing in the campaign, you'll have access to all of my sourcebooks (as well as any sourcebooks owned by any other player), helping with any characters you may want to create, but don't own the content for.

Players can expect
