About the adventure

"You awaken in an unfamiliar, run down building. Splintered furniture and discarded gear fill every room, and through the nailed wooden slats on every window, dim rays of moonlight catch the gloom and dust heavy in the air." "Beyond the walls, you hear them coming. Shambling, lifeless, and hungry, the dead come to invite you to their eternal promenade... whether you're willing or not. Only working with the strangers by your side offers you any chance of making it through this nightmare." This is a twoshot designed for level 5 characters. Player characters will awaken in a multi-level area with only starting equipment. Several rooms and loot stashes are scattered throughout the area. Combat will occur in waves; after each wave players will have three rounds to explore and find equipment and items, and after every 4 waves players will be allowed a short rest. This will continue until the player characters all die or the game has gone for 3 hours, after which players will finish the current wave and be considered victorious. If a player dies and is not revived by the start of the next round, they rise at the start of that round as an undead. Their goal is to join the undead swarm and defeat the other players. If they are killed, they respawn on the map next round or wave. If all other enemies are slain besides players, the wave ends and undead players must wait for the next wave to begin to respawn.

How to prepare

You will need a mic, Roll 20 account, D&D beyond account, and Discord (downloading it isn't needed, but helps). All dice rolls will be digital; no at home rolls will be accepted. Also get the Beyond 20 add on for chrome if you don't have it already, since we're going to be using both DnD Beyond and Roll 20. If you have any trouble with these systems or need help learning their basics, message me and let me know and I'll help you figure stuff out.

What I provide

I'm bringing every character creation option in DnD Beyond, a campaign link you will be able to make your character with online, and all the Roll 20 virtual maps and monsters we'll be using for the games.

Gameplay details

Players should expect a game focused almost entirely on combat. This game is designed to be a fun and entertaining oneshot players can just jump into and enjoy. I'll be using the Open Door safety tools for this game. If at any point you're uncomfortable and need a break, feel free to take one, no warning necessary. I'll also try to take a break midway through the game to ensure players don't get too worn out. Expect potentially graphic descriptions of combat violence, and potentially gory descriptions of undead.

How will character creation work

I'll give you a link to a DnD Beyond campaign page, where you can build your character. We'll use point buy for stats and take the fixed value HP so we can jump right into the game without a lot of extra oversight. You may take only starting equipment, and are given no gold. Expect to find new gear and loot on site!

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: High
  • Roleplay: Low
