About the adventure

Got a free Wednesday night? Come play through Hoard of the Dragon Queen! Check out my website benthedm.com for reviews and previous game footage! All are welcome so long as your there to have a good time and play some D&D! I welcome all experience levels and have taught plenty of new folks how to play! Introduction: Tyranny of Dragons is an epic story told across two adventure products, of which this is the first. Characters begin at 1st level, and by the end of Hoard of the Dragon Queen, they should be 7th or 8th level and ready to continue with The Rise of Tiamat. The ideal party size is four characters. If your group is larger or smaller, you can adjust the adventure's difficulty by reducing or increasing the number of enemies present in a given encounter. Tyranny of Dragons is set in the Forgotten Realms on Faerûn's western shore—the Sword Coast. A thin strip of civilization stretches down this coast, where widely spaced cities are arranged like beads on a string. A combination of roads and wagon tracks loosely connect the cities that stretch from Luskan in the north to Calimport in the south, passing through Neverwinter, Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate, and other great ports along the way. The bulk of this adventure takes place on the stretch between Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter.

How to prepare

Players should prepare their level 1 character (or higher level if they join later in a campaign). A mic will be necessary to play online, if you don't have a external mic I recommend a headset as they are usually superior to an internal computer mic. Players should have a image they would like to use to represent their character on roll20.

What I provide

I will be bringing maps, compendium content so that players can drag and drop items into their sheets, and the story itself.

Gameplay details

Players can expect a flexible gaming experience where they players work together with the DM to collaboratively tell our story! I always discuss content warnings before games as they can vary and so we can decide as a group what works and what is a no fly zone

How will character creation work

Character Creation will typically happen on roll20 once you join the game. Alternatively you can use DND beyond and a plug in which will send your rolls to our roll20 game. Players should have a pretty good idea of their character before our first session (first session will be a mix of a session zero and the opening to our story). That way we can do final tweaks together!

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Beginner
