About the adventure

The Derelict: A Tale of Terror for Call of Cthulhu from Chaosium, Inc. was originally made available in print on Saturday, June 18th, 2016 for Free RPG Day 2016 and was written by Sandy Petersen and Mike Mason the Godfathers of Call of Cthulhu. "A final journey brings a remarkable discovery and a hidden terror. The icy waters of the North Atlantic hold many secrets and dangers. You are about to discover one such secret. Due to the economic crash of 2008, the characters savings have dwindled and their investments have dried up, forcing them to sell their yacht, the Delilah. Despite the concerns and worries of life, a final voyage is being made on the luxury yacht, Delilah, taking the vessel from America to its new owner in England. One last hurray amongst friends! What promises to be a pleasurable journey across the ocean waves descends into a desperate struggle for survival. A stranded vessel. The promise of a great reward. A mystery filled with horror." The Derelict is suitable for 3 to 6 players. New players are welcome. This is a one shot set in the modern day. You will be given a premade characters with well integrated backstories.

How to prepare

Players will need a microphone and good internet connection to connect to fantasy grounds. Webcams are strongly encouraged because I feel that player expressions are important to facilitate game play. If you absolutely do not feel comfortable using a webcam you will not be required too. Characters sheets and dice will be provided in fantasy grounds.

What I provide

I will bring the rule system, character sheets, dice, maps and illustrations within fantasy grounds.

Gameplay details

Call of Cthulhu is a horror game with dark themes and heavy role playing encouraged. One-Shot Call of Cthulhu games where you are given pregenerated characters are akin to improv acting. I've given the game an 18+ rating because there may be adult themes. If you feel uncomfortable with something please let me know privately and I will address the issue immediately.

How will character creation work

This is a one-shot Call of Cthulhu game where characters will be pregenerated with strong role playing ties written into their back stories. Much of the fun in these type of games is the challenge of playing a character that you don't expect and have not prepared to play.
