About the adventure

The Awakened Woods is a special place, a haven for all animals with no predators to worry about. In these magically protected woods, the animals have learned to grown smarter, wiser, and more cooperative. It is a special place of peace and plenty-- until THAT day... When predators attacked and lives were lost. The animals gathered and asked for some volunteers, some heroes to solve the mystery of why and make things right again. Players start off as "awakened" animals (frog, bat, rabbit, squirrel, salamander, raven, turtle, porcupine, mouse, hummingbird, woodpecker, or lizard). Throughout the adventure, they "level up" twice gaining better stats and magical abilities at each level. "Hidden Heroes of the Awakened Woods" is an Interlude Adventure written and designed by Justin Spath and edited by Kristen Clute. The module is copyrighted by Space Daddy Games in 2019. I kickstarted the game and own it, and am allowed to run it, using the included maps and tokens. I've run this game half a dozen times and players have always enjoyed it. It can be played in 3 acts in (1) 4 hour session, (2) 3 hour sessions, or (3) 2 hour sessions) My rates are $60 / 2 hours for up to 6 players. ($10 per additional player per 2 hours.) The cost listed is $120-- that covers a 4 hour game for 6 players. +$20 per additional players after 6. Cost per player will be adjusted down to match the # of players and the hours of gameplay. 1 player - $120 per player ($30/hour) 2 players - $60 per player ($15/hour) 3 players - $40 per player ($10/hour) 4 players - $30 per player ($7.50/hour) 5 players - $24 per player ($6/hour) 6 - 10 players $20 per player ($5/hour)

Additional Details

How to prepare

If playing in person: bring paper and a pen/pencil, standard gaming dice are helpful, but can also be done by app on smart phone or computer. (If playing at local game store, they will have dice available.) If playing on-line: Bare minimum needed to play is a phone line. Best experience playing the game will require a video camera, a microphone, a headset, and a good internet connection. Physical gaming dice or access to the web for a dice rolling site is required.

What I provide

If playing on-line: I will email character sheets to players as a .pdf. Maps and tokens will be provided by me via Zoom. If playing in-person: Character cards, maps, character tokens, and NPC tokens will be provided by me.

Gameplay details

This is a fast-paced, simplified version of D&D 5e. It is whimsical and imaginative, with players playing the parts of animals. It is low magic, but there is a lot of healing magic available. The protagonists are other animals (predators), so there is a high probability of combat and a small possibility of character death. (Thought it hasn't happened yet in any of the times I've run this game module.) This is an appropriate game for kids and new players.
