About the adventure

From the Monster of the Week Tome of Mysteries comes Haunting at the Old Grand. They check in but they don’t check out. Deep in the bowels of a historic hotel, abandoned for more than a century, awaits one of the Great Old Ones. Will you be able to solve the disappearances that happen in and around this building with its bloody history? You and your compatriots are Hunters, a long standing group of individuals that can be found anywhere in the world where shadows are cast. Together you go from town to town solving mysteries, killing monsters, and saving lives. This mystery uses the Monster of the Week RPG system

How to prepare

Please have a microphone and a Discord account for voice. We can use webcams if you’d like but it is not necessary. Unlike other systems all you need is two six-sided die. Feel free to use actual dice or digital ones.

What I provide

I will provide PDFs of and links to player rules and character creation resources. Character creation is very simple in this system, but I will be available to guide you through it. I will have music and images when needed but the majority of the game will be Theatre of the Mind since the ruleset lends itself better to that than to maps and tokens.

Gameplay details

This game will include common horror themes such as death, murder, body horror, as well as grotesque descriptions that could be considered disturbing. We will be using the X and N cards. You can type the letter X into chat at any point if we come across content you are uncomfortable with. The same can be done with the letter N if we are approaching content that may make you uncomfortable. I invite all my players to message me directly as well if they need to be specific, but that is not necessary especially if that makes you uncomfortable. There is a hard line on on some content in the game such as sexual violence, racism, or any kind or bigotry.

How will character creation work

Players can contact me directly in discord if they have any questions about character creation. The game has a very simple format with step-by-step instructions on creating a new character, but if there is anything you have questions about, please reach out. For one-shots it is ideal to have your character ready before-hand, but we can always meet in Discord 30 minutes before the session - it really is that quick and easy.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
