About the adventure

In the idyllic town of Hamlet's Hollow the leaves are falling, the air is crisp with the autumn's early chill, and all-state high school drama championships are right around the corner. The only problem? The town's newly elected mayor has cancelled this year's annual Halloween fundraiser, a hayride and haunted house known as The Shakespeare Spooktacular! Jack Goodmen, a hardworking, community minded, candy maker works day and night every year to make sure the Spooktacular is one-of-a-kind; but this year might bee too much for him to overcome. How can he change the mayor's mind when he can't even find a romantic partner? With a the little hallows eve help from concerned, and conveniently single residents, maybe he can turn this horror story into a sweet memory. How to prepare

All players will need is a way to roll 2d6 (physical or digital), a physical or digital copy of their playbook, a love of corny tropes, and a working microphone. My camera will be on and its great if yours is too but it is by no means necessary.

What I provide

I'll provide the PDF and the discord server where everything will happen. I'll also write up a post game plot synopsis to share with the players and other members of the server.

Gameplay details

We'll hash out playbooks (the "classes" or tropes you'll play) and establish Line and Veiled topics on the discord server before the game. The gameplay itself is broken into three acts, the introductions, the problems, and the resolution. True to any holiday movie we'll take bio/stretch breaks in "commercial breaks" between each acts. After the game is finished and the Love Interest's heart is claimed we'll highlight impact moments and give a brief epilogue of our characters. While actual hallmark movies are pretty homogenous in their cast of characters, that doesn't have to be (and hopefully won't be) the case here. The designer of the game says does a great job at opening the game to all from the word go: "Hometown Holiday is inclusive of all races, faiths, disabilities, and sexual identities and orientations. The movies this game parodies are typically Christmas themed and predominantly starring straight able-bodied white people; by no means does your story have to fit these parameters. How will character creation work

We'll decide on characters on the discord server where the PDF will be provided. The prep for this is exceedingly quick only consists of picking a playbook, choosing one of two "moves" (special abilities), and picking or writing a two sentence backstory.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
