About the adventure
In this Solstice adventure, you will be investigating one of the Big Bad Booklet villains from The Deck Of Many. Your D&D 5e-inspired LEVEL 3 characters wake up to find a strange mechanical toy in your room, with the tag “A Gemmerous toy makes a generous gift!” It seems your innkeeper may have snuck in while you were asleep to deliver this gift, but as you head out to the common area to inquire, you hear a scream coming from the room next to you. It seems they, too, received a gift, but theirs has come to life and is attacking them! It's up to your group to find out if there are more of these toys in the inn, where they came from, who created them... and why.

How to prepare

What I provide
Your DM will be acting as your narrator, and will guide you through this adventure. If you have any questions, please reach out before the session.
Gameplay details
We will start with a quick introduction of your characters and their talents, and then we'll jump right into the adventure. You will encounter some puzzles, role-playing opportunities, and, of course, combat. Your DM will guide you through each portion of the adventure using discord for audio (video optional) and roll20 for battle maps, imagery, and tokens.

How will character creation work
Characters should exist before the session begins. Your dm will gladly assist you in creating/modifying the character and building a personality or backstory for them. Character building table rules: - We will be starting with LEVEL THREE characters, which can be built in roll20 using the “charactermancer,” which is a step-by-step “how to build your character while we explain all of your options” tool. Very easy, very handy, highly recommended. - Your available resource books from your DM include the Players Handbook, Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, and Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes. If you require additional resources for your desired character, the player is responsible for purchasing them and informing your DM about their special features. - Please use standard array or point buy for ability scores and start with class equipment, plus one rare and one uncommon item from the Dungeon Master's Guide. Alternatively, - If you have a character already, you can import a level 3 character from your roll20 character vault (here: https://app.roll20.net/vault/characters) - If you are a DnDBeyond user, please be sure to share your character sheet with Katie and have the appropriate integration tech installed (i.e. the Beyond20 extension or awareness & integration of the avrae bot in discord). - Paper copies are also an option, but again, will need to be shared with your DM.
Players can expect
- Combat/Tactics: High
- Roleplay: Medium
- Puzzles: Low
- Experience Level: Intermediate
