About the adventure

Cruise the Cosmos is a vibrant, retro, nostalgic and sci-fi setting. Created for those who wish to explore all the multi-verse has to offer. Join a casual and episodic style of adventuring and looking to join a warm community to make new gaming friends. Detailed and complicated modules or campaigns often take lots of time and energy. It's difficult to commit or find that feeling of achievement when objectives take several sessions to complete. This setting and game space seeks to provide playtime that offers lighter and more flexible gameplay and a growing community to connect and play with. This and future Cruise the Cosmos adventures are episodic, everything from puzzles, encounters and plots are self-contained to the current play session aboard "The Monarch". Multiple sessions are not connected by overarching plots, but by an overarching environment. "The Monarch" is a star-liner, a luxury cruise ship that travels the stars, and is the first of its kind. Travelling the stars and visiting distant worlds of fantasy and wonder. An exciting cast of NPCs (reminiscent of Saturday morning shows like Power Rangers and Sailor Moon) tends to the ship and a collection of unique guests but needs your help! This is where you come in. Player characters are assumed to have joined the "Cruise the Cosmos" initiative, a work-to-travel program. A once in a lifetime opportunity for misfits, runaways, and those fueled by wanderlust or seeking new lives. Come aboard, we’re expecting you.. 🌟Keeping it weird is underrated. Outer space is a vast and varied place. Create a unique and possibly weird character! 🌟Sync up with co-workers and friends for an adventure on the holo-deck or groove to tunes in the Disco-ballroom! 🌟This is a unique setting carefully crafted by me for the players. The adventure will unfold via text messages on a private discord server. -Play by Post, an asynchronous game, allows all involved to interact at their own leisure, availability and interest. -Get the roleplay serotonin between session-based games. Post a few times a week or several times a day. -Allowance to take time to digest a scene and engage with a deeper level of roleplay. -Play begins as soon as I approve your character and you wish to engage. No evil characters. -Sessions last 5 days, typically Monday-Friday (EST) This is an inclusive, SFW and kind gaming space. Players and DM are to be respectful and considerate. How to prepare

Player to-do list: 1. Download Discord, create an account and verify your account (https://discord.com/) 2. Head to DND Beyond's website and create an account, a free/non-subscription is good (https://www.dndbeyond.com/) 3. Create a character that will fit in well with the setting and tones of the adventure. Joining our discord server (available after you book your first game) to have fun integrating characters and stories together. 4. Ideally, but not mandatory, have a glance over the Dungeons and Dragons 5e players handbook to cover basic rules and have a light understanding of what your character can mechanically do

What I provide

As DM, I’m active daily to interact and offer story progression, ensure the safety and fun of our gaming space and assist players with character creation/use of Avrae. I'm here as the pillar of our community and aim to build a space that is safe, fun, inclusive and cozy. During session times will be my “in office” hours for the week, when I dedicate an evening to update our adventure log (helpful entries about the story thus far) and in more immediacy interact if you would like to move a scene forward, more speedily interact with the world/npcs and hangout as a community. I will bring: -System mastery of 5e and numerous (if not most) sourcebooks for character creation. -Engaging storytelling -Experiences with Avrae -Narrative illustrations to help build immersion -Use of battlemaps and tokens with image posted updates to initiative encounters (which I will update regularly in encounters, allowing players ease of only focusing on discord) -Use of syrinscape and other DJ fun audio during office hours, if you would like to hangout :D

Gameplay details

Safety tools will always be available for reference in a channel of their own on the discord server. -In Session 0/ onboarding we will go over the themes of the campaign and our expectations of one another. This would include character creation, desired narrative and roleplay depth as well as, mechanically what source books we would like to see at the table. All of these are refreshed for all players when new adventurers join, to ensure the safety and comfort of all. -Lines and Veils will take place during our session 0 and is considered a living document, meaning it is always on the table for evaluation and updating the needs of our gaming space changes. -X card is available as an Emote as well as our “VCR” system that allows an easy shorthand to communicate needs, safety and wants within a scene.

How will character creation work

For this campaign, we will meet on discord in a "Party-lounge" chat and discuss our campaign. Initially, we will discuss what we are both excited to see and what we would like to keep away from the game space. Any official DND sourcebooks are allowed but need to be approved by the DM before entering play. Players will create 1st level characters through DND Beyond and upload finished character sheets to discord with Avrae, an only slightly evil-aligned dice roller and combat system to run DND on discord. No experience with Avrae is required, anyone who needs help, I'll be there for you. An inspirational watch list to prepare for this adventure might include: -Love Boat -Sailor Moon -Power Rangers

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
