About the adventure

A message passes through the seedy underbelly of Neverwinter. A strange woman named Vyerith is seeking some local muscle to tail the Rockseeker brothers. Her master, a mysterious figure known only as the Black Spider, searches for the location of the legendary Wave Echo Cave and will pay quite handsomely for the information. What say you, adventurer? Are you willing to hang up the heroics and delve into the lucrative side hustle of professional henching? Apply within! This game is a twist on one of the most play modules for the 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons. Instead of aiding Gundren Rockseeker on his quest to find his brothers and reclaim the ancient mine for his clan you'll see the story from a new angle. Helping the Black Spider waylay the Rockseeker brothers and taking the Forge of Spells as his own! Muahahahahaha!

Additional Details

How to prepare

Necessary Tools: Webcam preferred but not mandatory. A microphone. An internet connection with access to Roll20 and Discord. A PNG format character token, one can be provided if necessary. Physical dice, because it isn't D&D without real click clack sounds.* *We use the honor system, but may ask to verify rolls if lady luck seems unusually favorable to a PC.

What I provide

Maps and Tokens will be available on Roll20, but players are encouraged to supply their preferred character token.

Gameplay details

If you are familiar with the Lost Mines of Phandelver module you'll see many of the same locations and townsfolk. Session 0 will be a free session to cover character creation and a quick meet and greet to ensure everyone will have a good time together. Most importantly there will be a brief discussion on playing a less than savory PC. (Many players confuse "evil" with "rude" or "uncooperative".) We'll be following the TTRPG Safety toolkit, but it should not be needed as the game is meant to be light hearted and playful storytelling to showcase the other side of the Phandalin adventure.

How will character creation work

Character creation will begin after Session 0 in order to cover a few important points. 1. Familiarity with 5e D&D. 2. Establish characters who can work well together. 3. Race/Class combinations. The preferred tool for character creation is the DnD Beyond character sheet, but Dicecloud is also acceptable if players do not own content. (Content sharing may be enabled at a later date.)

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
