About the adventure

Round the beggar from Varassa all sat in a ring, and by the campfire they sat and heard his song. About walkers and wolfkin and every terrible thing, and of his fear he sang to them all night long: “There is something beyond the mountains, beyond the howls beyond the mist, there is something behind the veils, behind hearts cold as stone. Hearken, something walks and whispers, walks and lures you in and whimpers: Come to us, for this earth shall ever be ours and ours alone!” Forbidden Lands is a new take on classic fantasy roleplaying. In this sandbox survival roleplaying game, you’re not heroes sent on missions dictated by others – instead, you are raiders and rogues bent on making your own mark on a cursed world. You will discover lost tombs, fight terrible monsters, wander the wild lands, and if you live long enough, build your own stronghold to defend. Forbidden Lands is a return to the old school feel of the games of yore: brutal, unflinching, lots of random tables, and hex crawling! In this tabletop roleplaying game, you are not heroes sent on missions dictated by others – instead, you are raiders and rogues bent on making your own mark on a cursed world. You will wander the wild lands, discover lost tombs, fight monsters, and, if you live long enough, build your own stronghold to defend. During your adventures, you will uncover the secrets of dark powers lurking in the shadows and, in the end, you can be the ones to decide the fate of the Forbidden Lands.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Ideally being familiar with Forbidden Lands, or any Year Zero Engine game (i.e. Tales from the Loop, Alien, Mutant: Year Zero), but not necessary at all. The system is very intuitive and can be learned easily during play.

What I provide

I will bring the adventures, all programmed into Foundry VTT. Each player will need a mic, and preferably headphones to prevent audio bleedover. Players will also need a free Forge account, which can be done here (https://forge-vtt.com/). Lastly, players will need to join the Discord, where we will use voice. Make sure to check the green checkmark in the #welcome channel to gain full access to the server.

Gameplay details

A typical session will see the players exploring the recently reopened Forbidden Lands, previously held in the grip of the dreaded Bloodmist. In the vein of old-school games, you will explore a massive hex map, discovering new places and unexpected dangers. Generally, this game will be rated R for graphic violence. There will be NO sexual content, as that's just not what I want to do with strangers on the internet. The game will focus on exploration, problem-solving, role-playing, and combat.

How will character creation work

We will have a session zero, where we will go over character creation, as well as going over the mechanics of the game. We will create them in Foundry VTT.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
