The Quiet Year on Roll20
The Quiet Year
Roll20
About the adventure
Whether you're new to GM'ing or you've been at it for a while, we all know that sometimes the hardest part of putting together a campaign is placing it in a world that feels fleshed out. This game session is focused on utilizing The Quiet Year to tell a collaborative story about a place over the course of a year, and leaves open the question of what happens to it after - a fantastic place for you and your own campaign to pick up. To ensure that everyone who signs up will be able to utilize the setting after our session, we'll be focusing on a specific fantasy city, whose name we'll collaboratively decide on. Over the course of the game, the table will each take turns answering a prompt to flesh out our place, and start projects to attempt to prepare us for the coming winter. By the end, we'll be confronted with the Frost Shepherds, and leave to you what happens next. Included in this game session is access to the video of this session through Google Drive for a week, an export of the group's map, and all notes taken by yours truly during the session, organized for use! Come along for a fun, collaborative storytelling event driven by an easy to understand card drawing mechanic. All player levels are welcome, and we'll review the rules as part of the game event!

How to prepare
You'll need to bring a mic and preferably a webcam if you feel comfortable being on video! You'll also need to join my Discord server to join our voice and video chat!
What I provide
I'll be hosting the game in Roll20, which will accommodate both the map drawing and card drawing mechanics! I'll also be hosting the included notes and video on Google Drive for pickup for a two weeks after the session!
Gameplay details
Unfortunately, The Quiet Year is a collaborative storytelling game that does not have a set path, and is difficult to warn against. It is impossible to tag every possible warning, as the story can meander. Because of this, we are utilizing the X, N, and O card technique, so that players may openly communicate when issues are triggering, and the table can move away from the subject at hand. Additionally, as with all games that I GM, the following things will not be tolerated: Sexism, Ableism, Racism, Homophobia, and Transphobia. In order to protect the table, these will all be treated with zero-tolerance, and result in immediate removal from the table.
