About the adventure

In the year 2055 most of America's population live in 3 major cities on the coastline, leaving the rest of the continent a barren and wild wasteland. In Epic Sector One, civil unrest and rumours of sinister, four-armed monsters spur the law-enforcing Arbiters into action against sinister and wily foes. In a city teeming with unemployment, violence and organised crime, nothing gives the restless citizens more solace than the worship of the God of their choice. Without the shining light of the various divinities, humanity would be swallowed by darkness and descend into anarchy. But the reach of man’s enemies is long, and when civil unrest breaks out, and rumours of four-armed monsters abound, the Arbiters tasked with keeping the peace must face the fight of their lives. For they are few, but their enemies are numberless...

How to prepare

You'll need a mic for the Discord channel, but we won't be on camera so no webcam required. We'll run combats and visuals through Roll20. I'd rather you don't read the rules ahead of time, it's more realistic to "feel your way along." We'll dice up your character in a private one-to-one session zero and you'll meet your teammates when the Mission briefing starts. Bring your own dice for generating your character, Gameplay on Roll20 has the Warhammer 40000 RPG system built-in.

What I provide

Roll20 has the dice, it would be great if you find a good visual representation of your character after we've diced them up so we can create a Roll20 token for them and to help your teammates visualise your PC. [I recommend you search for Adeptus Arbites on Pinterest] All maps and combat will be on Roll20

Gameplay details

We start with a Session Zero to meet each other, dice up characters, and set the scene for the game. Typical session will involve you as a law-enforcement Arbiter equipped with everything you need to keep the peace in Epic Sector One. What starts as a routine patrol develops into an investigation into a dark and sinister underbelly with horrifying implications. This is a science fiction story line set in the near future which is all about the law versus cult worshippers. Lots of characterful role playing, dizzying combat and a growing plot where very decision made by the players will affect the direction of the campaign. We will have a comfort break after about 90 minutes of game play. And we prescribe to The Open Door - the assurance that someone can leave or take a break from the game for their own safety and well-being without being judged. Another tool we have built in is Stars and wishes - you will be asked after the game to communicate feedback in a positive and forward-facing way. Stars are things that the participants really enjoyed and loved about the game. This could include a particular moment of roleplay, an encounter created by the GM, or anything else that stuck out as something awesome during the game. Wishes are things that the participants would like to see in future sessions. This could include particular interactions between characters, potential story moments and development, or anything else that could make the game even better in the future. And all games are recorded [with everyone's permission] and turned into novels that will sell on Amazon - your character will be immortalised in print forever, so better make it count!

How will character creation work

We start with a session zero where we will randomly generate a brand new and unique Arbiter character for you, take you through Basic Training, and get you out on a routine patrol of the city to enforce the law, arrest the guilty and investigate possible criminal activity. All you need is a pen and paper. Character sheets will be provided once the game starts.
