About the adventure

Welcome to Eberron! Well, sort of. This will be a modified Eberron setting for your characters to explore, effect, and (hopefully) save. The first session will start off as a somewhat self-contained story with implications to a larger campaign if you would like to continue after the first session. While I prefer to hold off on specific story details before I know who will be adventuring and what their goals are within this world, I can give you a general scope Eberron at large. The general mythos of Eberron will remain largely untouched (if you are not familiar with the Eberron setting, I am happy to go over the finer details in our session 0 ), but at the time of our arrival in the story, there are certain key world events brewing in the aftermath of the Last War. Manifest Zones, dimensionally overlapping spaces that are associated with the various planes around Eberron have always been a nuisance, but recently they have been increasing dramatically in their frequency and duration of existence causing widespread anxiety for what might cross over if the wrong manifest zone were to appear. The nomadic Shifter society has begun to congregate near the city of Sharn and rumors abound as to what they are planning. While the pillar of light bursting from the center of the Mournlands looms ever-present on the horizon, few have been able to survive the journey to discover its secrets, but those that have come back with reports of cities filled with warforged peppered throughout the bleached landscape. All that to say, I am here to act as a shepherd through a story that is compelling and meaningful for both you and the characters you create, you will be in a world bursting with adventure and only your desire and interests to inform which adventure you will take up. I prefer a sandbox style of play, because I want you to feel empowered to make the choices that you find most enticing with the confidence that you will find your story wherever you choose to look for it. In terms of logistics, I prefer to hold a session zero before starting a game with any new group, so we can hold a full session zero if the desire is to play through a full campaign, or we can incorporate that session zero into the beginning of the session if it will just be a one-shot, both of which would be free of charge. and finally, we are all here to have fun, so let's make sure we all do! Please remember to always be respectful of your other players at the table/screen and stay cognizant of everyone's time. In a similar vein, I will work to make sure this space feels safe to everyone wishing to join, but I would greatly appreciate people sending along their pronouns, triggers to avoid, and also any strong preferences they have (good or bad) in regards to what they would like to see.

Additional Details

How to prepare

I would ask players to somewhat familiarize themselves with how 5e works in a general sense, though I by no means expect anyone to be an expert (even the experts often struggle to stay fully on top of the rules!). Most board games and TTRPGs require some play experience to get a feel for anyway, plus we'll be playing online so there are interfaces to get comfortable with as well.

What I provide

Due to COVID, everything will be online, however once in-person play is available, I usually enjoy hosting and providing food that is specific to the story if that is desired by players.

Gameplay details

I personally enjoy the roleplay side of DnD to a large degree, but I understand and respect that that might not be the case for everyone, so please feel free to join me in full character voice (though please be respectful when it comes to your choice), with direct conversation if that is your thing, or if it is not, you are more than welcome to describe your character from a third person perspective. I love a good boss battle, so I will usually try to work one in, but I will make sure that the severity is befitting of the group experience level (don't worry, no hyper-efficient beholders for first time players). I love puzzles, but tend to not incorporate them until I have a good feel for the players and what types of puzzles would make sense for them. Exploration is something that I tend to avoid, especially for one-shots, but if you would like me to incorporate some, just let me know and I would be happy to do so.

How will character creation work

For one-shots, I will provide pre-generated character sheets to make things easier, but you are more than welcome to attach a story and personality to that character on your own. For campaigns, I will hold a session zero where we can prepare and develop our characters and stories together and I will be there to assist with any of the mechanical questions players will have.

Players can expect
