Dungeons & Dragons 5e

About the adventure

We begin fifty years after a cataclysmic event called the Mage Wars. Magic of unparalleled strength clashed with the powers of the gods themselves; the results of which destroyed cities, leveled trees, and broke apart mountains. In the wake of these battle sites the energy of magic reverberates still, causing unpredictable results in which magic, nature, and time behave in unpredictable ways. In the years since the wars mortals have found new sources to worship, strange things that emerged from shadows in absence of the gods. Now the world struggles to put itself back together. The game is sandbox style game, so you are free to explore the world as you see fit. I'm seeking players who are down to role-play; whether brand-new to the game or old. You have to be willing to share the spotlight with the other players. This is an adult setting, but that does not include sexual roleplay (ie, your character might engage in sexual activities, but we're not playing through it). Class Options - anything in the core 5e books Race Options - Human, Elf, Half-elf, Dwarf, Gnome, Half-orc, Tabaxi, Minotaur, Firbolg, Goblin. (Humans are a bit underpowered IMO so I do offer a feat at start and every five levels if you are playing a human).

How to prepare

You will need a microphone and an account on both discord and roll20. They are free. Webcam is entirely optional. Roll20 has a die roller on that, if you don't trust it and you want to use your own dice that's fine too! Just don't cheat. If you're rolling a suspicious amount of 20s I might ask you to use a webcam and show me. lol. Hopefully it never comes to that. Have your character sheet ready when we play, whether it's on paper or on your device is up to you. I'll need a copy of it at start and when you level up, a pic of it is fine. This is just to make sure I am accurately gauging the level of difficulty I'm throwing at you.

What I provide

The great thing about Dungeons and Dragons today vs when I started playing is that everything is available online. I recommend you pick up a copy of the players handbook - a lot of libraries have them if you don't feel like buying one... BUT, it's all google searchable anyway, so you don't really need any of it. I'll bring me to the table. Yes, ME. Along with dry humor, sarcasm, and boundless charisma. Oh, and a custom campaign that spins from your backstories and your choices. I do voices a little, nothing wacky but subtle nuances between the major characters. Minor characters are a mixed bag. I also do really shitty monster noises and sound effects when appropriate.

Gameplay details

Sessions include roleplay opportunity and encounters. I try to ensure there is at least one encounter per session, most often combat related; but that is ultimately be determined by the players. There is always roleplay. Off limits: Rape and graphic sexual encounters. Any sex scenes that may occur must be initiated by the player with all parties being okay with it - and will be done entirely off-screen. (we can assume the love making happened, no need to play it out). If there is a topic you'd like me to add to this list, please reach out; it is important that our players are comfortable. Inter-character flirtation is off limits among PCs unless all parties involved express are comfortable with the prospect, and so long as it doesn't become a primary focus. Flirt away with the NPCs if you'd like.

How will character creation work

Level one is a bit too squishy for my tastes, you'll start at level 2. I would be glad to walk you through character creation, but you're welcome to do son on your own if you'd prefer. Play any class you'd like, there are a few races that don't exist in the world we'll be playing in. Any race from official sources is welcome as well. We will put the final touches of character creation in the first session, but please have a general backstory in mind before we play. After our first session I would ask that you solidify the character's backstory and submit it to me. Backstories don't need to be too in depth but should have some substance. Shoot for at least 500 words but less than 2500. For your ability scores take 75 points and allocate them among your 6 ability scores. 75 points comes out to an average of 12.5 per ability score. Before racial bonuses, no ability score should exceed 18. Use the starting equipment as outlined in the PHB by your class. Get your weapons, armor, components, and gear as you see fit... You cannot start out with a set of plate mail armor though. Spell components don't need to be gathered specifically (ie, no need to purchase 2 phoenix feathers and 10oz of diamond dust) there would just be a cost to replenish every so many 'days'. (the exception to this rule is when the components of a spell have a monetary value). Starting gold - 75g If you have any questions about any of this, need assistance, or have an idea of something you'd like to try - reach out to me on discord: dOntEAtpOOp#7131
