About the adventure

Ages ago, a fire-breathing red dragon called Sharruth rampaged up and down the Sword Coast. Three evil, metallic dragons joined forces to battle Sharruth and imprisoned her beneath the ocean floor, believing seawater would quench her fire and keep her bound forever. But Sharruth’s fury, legend says, caused the undersea volcanic activity that formed Stormwreck Isle. The powerful magic embodied in such an ancient dragon has left a permanent mark on the isle. That magic has drawn other dragons to the island throughout the centuries, making it a recurring battlefield in the conflict between chromatic and metallic dragons. Several of these dragons have died there, each leaving behind a spiritual scar that causes unpredictable magical effects. But the ageless conflict between chromatic and metallic dragons threatens to disrupt the serenity of Dragon’s Rest—and this is where the adventure begins! This campaign is for brand new players. Everyone is welcome! We will be starting at level 1. If you are a new player, I can help you get started! Just let me know what you need. Some rules are as follows: 1. Be kind to each other as players. 2. No fighting/stealing from party members 3. I will not cancel a session unless every player bails on it. 4. Players will level up together based on the milestone system. No need to track xp. As long as a player attends most sessions, everyone will level up at the same time even if they've missed a few sessions. 5. I plan on players using DNDBeyond and Beyond20 extension. These tools are powerful and make playing fast and easy. 6. There will be a dedicated discord server for this game. This keeps discussions organized into channels so that important things don't get buried. 7. I plan on having a FREE "session zero" for character creation and general discussion, but feel free to bring a premade character that we can tweak. PC's start at level 1 This game will be scheduled to run bi-weekly.

How to prepare

I plan to run this game on Roll20, so players should have an account. We will be using Discord for voice chat so it is required that players have a mic. If players built a character on D&DBeyond, it is highly recommended that they download the Beyond20 extension. Players do not need prior experience or knowledge of the rules, but it is recommended to have some knowledge and experience. - Join campaign discord and have working mic - Join campaign on on D&DBeyond - Select character on dndbeyond (this step will happen during session 1) - Make account on Roll20 - Join campaign on Roll20 - Install Beyond20 plugin (optional, but highly recommended).

What I provide

We are playing online, so I will provide digital game components like maps, tokens, etc. This will include characters for this campaign.

Gameplay details

If for any reason a player needs to step away or remove themselves, we will be utilizing the safety measures of Open Door and X, N, & O Cards. Open Door is simply to empower the player to step away and rejoin (or leave if necessary) whenever they need to for any reason, no questions asked. X, N, & O Cards function as an indicators to me (the GM) when subject matter arises which causes discomfort to the point it disrupts your experience, you can utilized X, N, & O in the following ways: X: Place an X in the chat to let me know you are uncomfortable with the current content, often resulting in a change, rewind, or skip of the aforementioned content. N: Placing an N in the chat lets me know that you feel the content is heading towards an X card, often resulting in a change or a “fade to back”. O: An O in the chat is a check-in card, where I will stop and check with the entire group to ensure that everyone is comfortable continuing with the content.

How will character creation work

I will have a selection of pre-generated characters for players to choose from on dndbeyond. This will happen at the beginning of session 1. Players will be able to be keep the character on dndbeyond when the campaign ends. Characters level up using the milestone system. Any character that joins the game later will start at whatever level the rest of the party is at.
