About the adventure

The world has ended, and it's ending again. Three hundred years ago, the Cataclysm brought ruin to the world of Krynn. In a single day, an age of wonders came to an end. Countless innocents died, the face of the world was reshaped, and the gods themselves faded into legend. Through ages of struggle, the peoples of Krynn survived, but the world isn't what it was. Those nations that remain linger in the shadows of their ancestors' wonders. Only slowly have they begun to push back centuries of darkness and rediscover how the world has changed. Then came the Dragon Armies, legions of soldiers devoted to the wicked god Takhisis the Dragon Queen, and the world faces ruin once more. The War of the Lance has begun, and in a conflict between gods and dragons, a wounded world hangs in the balance. The Dragon Queen's conquest of Ansalon has begun. The eastern half of the continent has already fallen, and the Red Dragon Army has tested its forces against isolated and fractious lands. The Dragon Army now turns its attention to the west - to the land of Solamnia, a nation known as the home of knights and heroes. Now, the true war begins. ⏰ This is a Play-by-Post campaign hosted over a Discord server. This game can be entirely played on most any mobile device, tablet, or phone. As Dungeon Master, I will be available multiple times each day, and players are expected to be available at least once per day if they are actively engaged in a scene. Billing for the campaign occurs once a week. Gameplay will often occur during the weekend, for free, depending on my availability.

How to prepare

This Play-by-Post uses Discord and D&D Beyond. Yep, that's all you need. Install the Discord Application and join us in the server: https://discord.gg/qQJ7e6EMef Once in the server, read the Play-by-Post guidelines and familiarize yourself with the system rules. You don't have to read everything, but knowing where and how it's all organized will help.

Gameplay details

We will have a Session 0 as soon as we get enough players. This is an asynchronous play-by-post game run entirely on Discord. You post during the week and weekends as much as you wish (preferably at least once per day), and as Dungeon Master I will respond multiple times per day. You can access the game anytime from your device of choice. The game will be narrative and roleplay heavy. The beauty of Play-by-post is that the descriptions can be far more detailed and the nuance of playing your character can create an engrossing experience. Taking the time to explain your character's expressions and mannerisms, or reading the description of a creature before it attacks harkens back to the old-school days of the Theatre of the Mind experience. Roll initiative and unlock your imagination!
