    About the adventure

Cold whispers lick your ears as candles flicker from inside a creaking home's window. In the distance, a distinct shriek blends with the clashing of thunder as it recedes back into the mists, the lightning arcing behind the dilapidated structure. Its blue hue illuminates your surroundings, turning the old multi-storied house and its ghastly trees into silhouettes dancing like shadows in the mists. It also reveals two children - a boy and a girl - standing still and holding each other's hands on the front porch, their eyes and faces wet and streaked from what you can only assume are recent tears... This is a four-hour adventure for 2nd level characters; a notorious official one-shot slightly homebrewed to better the experience at the table. Equipped with only very basic supplies, you must step inside and risk the unknown to uncover the truth to an unsolved mystery. You can expect atmospheric sounds and music, dynamic lighting, unique voices and descriptive narration that'll spook you to the core. This is a fantastic intro to what a Curse of Strahd campaign is all about!

    Gameplay details

You'll experience about a 40/40 ratio of roleplay/combat with definite opportunities to flex the explorer in you if your heart desires! We'll start with introductions 5 minutes prior to game time then jump right into the story! You can expect descriptive combat and narration, sound effects, atmospheric sounds and music, and animated dynamic maps. This game is rated R for intense graphic descriptions, disturbing themes, and stronger language; it contains the following themes: • Horror • Child Violence • Supernatural • Low Fantasy The following safety tools are available during play: • X-Card - A tool that allows anyone to edit out any content anyone is uncomfortable with as we play. Since most RPGs are improvisational and we won't know what will happen till it happens, it's possible the game will go in a direction people don't want. An X-Card is a simple tool to fix problems as they arise. • Open and Inclusive Conversation - While the X-Card is useful, it is not a replacement for conversation. If you prefer to talk about an issue that comes up instead of using the X-Card, please do!
