Destroyer of Worlds, a Space Marine-centric Cinematic Scenario for the ALIEN RPG
Alien RPG on Discord, Foundry VTT
About the adventure
The mission was a manhunt, the objectives clear—track down four fugitives, recover any assets they may have made off with, and keep ‘em all out of enemy hands. Go find them on a frozen moon full of hostiles and get it done on the eve of war. Nothing you couldn’t handle. But what it is that these bastards stole—and how the hell it got inside them—is another thing altogether. It’s all above your paygrade, marine—but somehow you’re the one who’s got to deal with it. Of course, now there’s an invasion fleet incoming, and there’s something else, too—something much worse. Something out there hates you—hates everyone. Something big and ugly. Something with metal teeth—and you’re pretty sure it ain’t alone. Yeah, the mission was supposed to be a simple manhunt. Instead it turned out to be just another glorious day in the corps. ------------- Destroyer of Worlds is a complete Cinematic Scenario for the ALIEN roleplaying game, written by sci-fi novelist Andrew E.C. Gaska just like Chariot of the Gods. In Destroyer of Worlds, players take the roles of Colonial Marines. The scenario is designed for 3–5 players plus the Game Mother, and it’s a gauntlet of one hell after another. Expect it to take three sessions to complete. Cinematic scenarios for the ALIEN RPG are designed to replicate the feel of playing through an ALIEN movie. The pacing is high, the narrative strong, and the mortality rate is substantial. But that's the price of facing off against the deadly Xenomorph. Take the role of a pulse rifle-wielding Space Marine as you set down on a frozen moon on the brink of all-out war. Can you complete your mission and survive to tell of it? Or will your bones freeze on the surface of some backwater rock? Whether you are a veteran of the ALIEN world, or you're a new intern with The Company, there is fun to be had here. So grab you weapon, get in your combat seating, and be prepared for a terror-filled adrenaline fest of xenomorph-infested fun!
How to prepare
Ideally being familiar with the rules. They can be found here (https://frialigan.se/en/store/?collection_id=133130387504). However, the rules are simple enough that you can show up with no knowledge. To get a better idea of what this scenario will be like, watch Aliens (1986), directed by James Cameron. While 'Destroyer of Worlds' is a unique story, the movie will help put you in the mindspace for a Space Marine-focused game.
What I provide
It's a virtual game. No one really has to "bring" anything. That being said, there will be music streaming through Foundry to help further set the mood, as well as handouts.
This game, similar to the movies, will contain graphic violence as well as harsh language. There will be no content of a sexual nature. At any point, if the game is too intense, players are encouraged to let me know. We would then take a break, reassess, and adjust the remainder of the session to suit the player's comfort level.
