About the adventure
The world is full of magic and mystery. The land breathes arcane energy, with power running like veins through Midgard, the plane of the mortals. These veins, these ley lines, are powerful sources of energy waiting to be tapped. But where two lines cross, stranger and more potent magic can be found. At one such intersection of power rises a ruined citadel. A mass of broken stone and crumbled walls, the citadel guards something unseen and unknowable. And its stones are stained scarlet. Welcome to the Scarlet Citadel, set loosely in the world of Midgard by Kobold Press. This adventure is beginner-friendly, starting at level 1 and going (possibly) to level 10. It is a dungeon crawl, similar to classic dungeon crawls of old, but it's not as notoriously deadly. There will be opportunity for roleplay and side quests, with the main quest concerning the exploration of the citadel and what lies within. Expect a combat-heavy dungeon with low-to-moderate roleplaying. It all depends on the group though; if the group intends to roleplay, then more opportunities can be created to do so. A key point of the Scarlet Citadel is that creative thinking and knowing when to run are just as important as the ability to fight. If you fight every monster, you will probably die. Learning how to evade a fight might be the only way to get through.
How to prepare
You will need to make an account with Alchemy. Once you have that, I can invite you to the game. A Discord server will also be established for OOC, posting pictures, or anything else you might want to talk about. You will definitely need a microphone for voice. A webcam would be great for video but is not necessary. Alchemy has a good interface for audio and video right in the VTT without having to juggle screens, so that's good. Beginners are welcome, even extreme beginners. A copy of the Player's Handbook is always a good thing to look through, but if you have no experience at all, join in anyway! We can teach you.
What I provide
I will bring the Alchemy module to the table, which is full of animations, soundscapes, and battle maps. I have access to cinematic music and generated art that I will use in my sessions. I also have a wealth of resource books and guides that are out of the norm, resources that can be used by myself or my players.
Session 0 will include an explanation of the world, the introduction of the story, and character making. We will go over house rules and discuss safety tools. Safety tools can be accessed in the Alchemy user interface, so they will be virtual but clearly visible. Lines and veils will be discussed privately during Session 0.

How will character creation work
Characters will start at level 1. Character creation will happen during Session 0. Please don't make them before, I enjoy having everyone in the party interrelated somehow. Come to Session 0 with a character concept in mind though. You should have a good idea about what you want to play, and we can put together who your character is with input from the group. Pre-generated characters are readily available, and I'm happy to provide them. Contact me before the game to arrange for one, or ask during Session 0.
