About the adventure

I have developed a Roguelite adventure for D&D 5e based heavily on existing video games such as Hades and Slay the Spire. Fight through several floors of increasing difficulty, with a short rest and shop every few floors. You long rest and level up when you die or defeat a boss, making death only a setback, sending you back to the floor after your last completed boss fight, with all of your XP, Gold, and Essentia (a custom currency) retained. Spend Essentia and Gold to strengthen yourself and your gear and level up to get stronger, and eventually push deep into the ever-changing dungeon! This roguelite adventure encourages party unity, tactics, and cooperative gameplay, but don't let that scare you away if you're a new player- I will be happy to help you every step of the way, so that you can enjoy what my game offers! Roleplaying is not a heavy focus for this campaign- this is a combat simulator, more than anything else. While Hades has a great plot, this game will not. A D&D Beyond Campaign will be provided to help with character creation, which has several source books and adventure material. You will level up very rapidly so it is a good idea to have level progression planned out as levels will be applied mid-session. Because of this, at least some familiarity with D&D 5e is also suggested, although not required. This game will be streamed on Twitch! Viewers (and players) can interact with the stream by redeeming Streamloots cards, giving out bonuses or penalties to roll (such as a d4 to help one player, or giving disadvantage to the DM). Streamloots cards can be obtained by either viewing the channel and redeeming Channel Points or for purchase.

How to prepare

You'll need a mic, and to have at least a vague plan of your character's next few levels for each session, as levels come rapidly. A Forge-vtt account is also required, to connect to the game.

What I provide

Maps will be on Foundry, and the game will be hosted by Forge-vtt, with access at all times. I can help with creating characters. I also have the D&D Beyond Sourcebook bundle, so any player sheets can (and should) be made in D&D Beyond.

Gameplay details

Each "floor", or room, is going to be a 40ftx40ft room with potential obstacles and filled with enemies. After each room, you get a reward, and get to choose the next room's reward. You push through room after room with the occasional rest, fighting enemies and bosses, until you make it to the very end or die trying. Death is only a temporary setback, however. In between runs, you can spend accumulated Gold and Essentia to grow stronger, buffing your stats and crafting, buying, or upgrading your gear.

How will character creation work

You will be expected to create characters before the session, and have all of their leveling up choices (such as subclass and spell selection) already planned out up to three levels in advance, which I can help walk you through ahead of time if you're new to the system. All official published material is allowed.
