About the adventure

Your group has gotten a report of some strange deaths at a local museum. Professor Josh Singer, Dr Jennifer Sofia, and Michelle Fitzsimmons were last seen alive working late unpacking and cleaning up new items for the collection. The next morning they were found “burned and partially dissolved”. What could have possibly caused this? Does more danger await you as you step though the museum door? Only time will tell.

How to prepare

You will need to have your character sheet ready for the game and someway to roll dice either online or physical. You will need a Webcam and Mic for this game. Because MotW is mostly Theater of the Mind I want us to be able to see each other. If you feel strongly about not using a Webcam let me know.

What I provide

I will be providing character sheet and MotW Playbooks.

Gameplay details

Monster of the Week is a standalone action-horror RPG for 3-5 people. Hunt high school beasties a la Buffy the Vampire Slayer, travel the country to bring down unnatural creatures like the Winchester brothers of Supernatural, or head up the government investigation like Mulder and Scully. Your hunters aren’t normal people; you’re not even normal monster hunters. You are the ones who stand out, larger than life and twice as badass. You can change the world—save it, destroy it, or alter it forever. One way or another, you will make a difference. I will send a link to Lines and Veil document to everyone with instructions on how to use it. CODE OF CONDUCT - NO Bullying, hazing, or otherwise picking on a fellow character. You are a team and as such will treat each other with respect. - NO Sexual content (sweet talking may be used as a form of persuasion but ONLY with NPCs) - NO Shutting down other players ideas or actions. Each player has a chance to voice their thoughts or intent. If you say "My character will try..." after I determine if the game allows that action, we will then play out the outcome. If you ask the party for their opinion, then that action can be decided upon by the group (in or out of character). There are no wrong answer or suggestions. If during a live game something comes up that is making you uncomfortable, please speak up and the event/action will cease immediately.

How will character creation work

I will provide access to the playbooks and character sheets for everyone. Only one playbook can be used at a time so it will be a first come first serve for those. I will help anyone with character creation if they need it. I will let you know if certain abilities will be helpful during this game. Also everyone starts with one level.
