About the adventure

Welcome to Rutalia! The city of Trustwald is quickly becoming a growing metropolis in the wake of a cataclysmic event that saw the capital city of Lucia sunk to the bottom of the Verudian Coast. Bandits grow bold in the late Autumn months and tribes of beast-men gather under a new united banner. Their numbers increase by the day. Travelers arriving from other parts of the country side speak of worse horrors that lurk in the shadows of the mires and bogs to the west. A Storm is brewing. Who will stop it and bring renewed peace to Rutalia?

How to prepare

You'll need a mic and preferably a webcam for game sessions. I'll be sending a link for gotomeeting for live play online sessions. Any web browser will work but they a mobile app too. There is no need to use fantasy grounds if u aren't familiar with it. I welcome you to use your own dice or any app or service you prefer for play. Just remember, some of the best times can be had when you critically miss!

What I provide

I'll provide access to everything you'll need to play through fantasy grounds and access to gotomeeting for video and audio chat. I also have a new Yeti Blue X mic for voice mods and content drop. (I'm still getting used to tweaking this for now). I’ll also be utilizing Inkarnate’s map making software for world, city, dungeon and battle map making which will be handed out to the players through, fantasy grounds, email or other means during play. We will also have a simple discord channel set up for time in between sessions for things like roleplay and in character chat, in game shopping, and dice rolls for things like persuasion or insight checks while we aren't in combat. Although there may be the odd time when a session runs long and we don't quite finish a longer than expected battle and we'll be able to finish up in discord before the next session.

Gameplay details

This will be a typical sandbox style homebrew. We will start in a small area and as your characters grow in power, you'll be able to venture in to more dangerous and high stakes adventures. There will be a session 0 where we will build and flesh out character backgrounds and stats and figure out how they fit in to the story and mingle with other characters. Gameplay is mainly through fantasy grounds, which you only need the free version for. I have all of the content you'll need to play.

How will character creation work

Character creation will take place at session 0. I'm open to hosting all manner of published classes and races for 5e content. Characters will be created in fantasy grounds during this first session for me to reference but if you want to use pen and paper, DnD Beyond or anything else to keep your character sheet up to date please use what your comfortable with!
